Yeah that's what I thought. People are hanging their hat on an unproven goalie with a 50/50 chance of making it over as the saviour next season. Yikes, that kool-aid is effin strong!

Honestly how? By moving up and down goalies who aren't established in the league? By waiving a guy who has never been more than a 4th line player?
The over-reaction to some pretty minor moves today is pretty unreal.

The other problem is that it's hard to judge what a KHL goalie is going to do here. The style is different, there's less traffic, the shots come slower (in frequency as opposed to speed).
I hope he works out, but I was hoping for an Irving Ramo tandem to take us to the kids, so who even knows anymore. Personally I thought it was unlikely he came over and just stayed there, but now with all these goalie issues, he probably has a legit chance to be the man over here.

Yeah for all we know, there's a reason he's in the KHL and not over here, because he sucks.
Shoring up goaltending with REAL NHL goaltending depth has to be a priority at this point. Kipper goes down and it's basically a disaster. Awful roster management.

Why even draft players? What's the point of anything beyond the 2nd round? Hell, even the first round floats around 45%.
You're method of argument is just strange. You said yesterday that we should go after Enroth, because for some reason Ramo is magic beans. What do you think Enroth is? At least with Ramo, he's already Flames property.

Serious question...is Brysgalov a bad goalie, or just an expensive goalie?

Why does it matter? We're not going after him.

What makes this a gong show is not that they sent Irving down, its that Kipper is 36 and yet the team has no idea or would appear to have even thought about a plan for his retiring.

Valid point, but whether he's lying or not Feaster did say they're evaluating the goalie situation by bringing Taylor up.

I don't think that's true at all. I think management full expects Kipper to be gone next year.
You can't replace a guy like Kipper. You just can't. But that's why the team is has been drafting goaltenders the last few years, that's why they picked up up Ramo.
If people expect somebody to replace Kipper as soon as he leaves, you're going to be disappointed. No team can replace their star players in an instant.

Desperatly throwing in anything they can scare up because Irving hasn't worked out isn't what I would call evaluation, if Kipper was 32 not really worrying whether Irving was NHL calibre wouldn't matter but a team with a 36 year old goalie should have his replacement locked and loaded, either with a decent older back up or an NHL ready prospect

I am not argueing his replacement will be as good, but he should be in the system, frankly at 25 Irving should have been given the chance to lose and learn already or have been dumped already and a suitable prospect looked for.

Nobody will EVER replace Miikka Kiprusoff in this organization, not EVER. People seem to forget that not only is Miikka Kiprusoff an elite goaltender at 36, he's been an elite goaltender since he started playing with this club, and has been a fantastic goalie since then. He's a sure-fire hall of famer and if you expect anyone to replace him, now or EVER, you need a reality check. When he's back, I see his play elevating to an above average level, like it does every season. For now, we have to make the best of the goaltenders we have, and if that means two AHL quality goaltenders for a week and a half, then that's what we have to deal with. Bitching about our future isn't going to help us now, especially when we have the likes of Ramo, Brossoit, Irving, Taylor, Brust, Ortio, in our prospect pool. We have a huge selection of goalies that still have a year or two to develop before we have to worry about getting someone to take Kipper's place. People seem to think that the goaltending situation we have NOW, will be the same in TWO YEARS. It's ridiculous, really.

?
Ramo, Brossoit, Ortio, Gillies. They are in the system.
Irving has no value, and hasn't had any value for a while. We aren't going to get anything for him.

Irving couldn't hold a starting spot in the AHL, no surprise he was unable to at the NHL level. Hell, he wasn't even the backup in Abbotsford!
Dissapointing, but not surprising.

Irving at best has been mediocre. That Dallas game should have been way more lopsided, his rebound control is brutal and I see why he was third string in Abby. I think with Jones being waived and Irving sent down something is in the works. Seems odd to demote a centre when we are short in that position as it is.

I'm pretty sure that management has lost faith in him, it's too bad, I liked Irving but he hasn't been all that good. It really can't hurt to give Taylor a shot now because MacDonald sure isn't a starter.

Kipper will be replaced by either a trade or UFA signing.
Drafting goalies is not a good plan. For most part.
Irving has shown that he is not good enough. All this drama about him being sent down is just silly.

Kicking Henrik Karlsson to the curb so early in the season looks like a mistake in retrospect.
