Well, Warrener always was a defensive defenseman and played with Iginla during his transition from a prototypical power forward who played on the PK to the reluctant backchecking perimeter player we saw in recent years. There's probably a natural affinity for players like Warrener and the goalies they play in front of. He probably spent about as much time covering for forwards like Iginla as Kiprusoff spent saving Warrener's bacon.
And speaking of highly of Bure isn't a big deal because, well, Bure. He was a generational talent that did things most NHL superstars can't match. No doubt you would have a lot of respect and admiration for a player like that especially if you had the fortune of playing with that person for any stretch of time.
So on the whole, I wouldn't read a whole lot into Warrener's comments about Hasek/Bure/Kipper without a mention of Iginla.

People make it sound like Warrener insulted Iggy's mother or something. His comments weren't even that bad. He just stated it "seemed" like Iggy has lost his drive so far this season. What, so no one can take any sort of criticism? And lets face it. What he said was what most were thinking. He just had the balls to say it publicly. And guess what? It worked to motivate Iggy. So good on you Rhett. I think the guy would be awesome to chill and have a beer with.

Well that is contradictory then. Bure was the worst defensive player ever. He literally would let his team be 5-4 in the D-zone to hope for a chance at a break away. Warrener didn't sound like he liked him that much either

One thing is for sure - I'm sure Kelly Kirsch doesn't mind hearing sound bites from his station get national attention a few times this week.
I think everyone agrees with what Warrener said about Iggy, that he wasn't nearly as grity as in years past and in definitely shows. We've all noticed it, but is Warrener a dbag for saying it on the radio because he's a former player?
I certainly don't think so. In fact, I think this was a pretty tame calling out compared to what he said about Smith and Heatly. I enjoyed his take when I heard it live, and enjoy it when he skates the line into 'controversial' instead of playing it safe.
I've enjoyed the morning show this past month, and think Walker has found his place with his sarcastic player profiles. There is nothing wrong with a little edge.

I personally think they're pretty good friends. Whenever Iggy called into the Fan, him and Warrener would have pretty good back and forth friendly jabs at each other. So you perceive them as not in good terms, I perceive them as they are. We both don't know since we don't know them.

I didn't hear what Warrener had to say about Bure first hand; I was just commenting based on an earlier post.
I don't think it's entirely contradictory though. Bure's offensive talents were on a plane that perhaps only a handful of NHLers in the history of the game have been able to match. Iginla, while great, cannot hold a candle to the kinds of things Bure was able to do on offense. Bure certainly was one dimensional, but when you are off-the-charts talented in one area, that can excuse weaknesses in others.

Rhett Warrener been hanging around with Eric Francis way too much that he is acting like him too. Nobody pays attention to Warrener anymore even on the streets that's why he tries to steer controversy calling out Iggy's heart and determination on the radio show. Pathetic!

I think allot of fans have not heard Warrener's comments in their entirity and are going by the edited comments printed in papers and snip its on TSN/Sportnet. I didn't think they were scathing or devious they were honest. It was an honest opinion.
Just like how TSN has edited the Ryan Smyth comment Warrener made.
On TSN the reporter says what do you think about being called a joke.
his comment was more like closer to this... Ryan Smyth has been the face of the Oilers for along time and is a proud player and look has what has happened up there with the trade and coming back now with being a healthy scratch and his terrible play on the ice it is becoming all a bit of joke.

The best quote in the whole article was on Heatley anyway, he is the guy who should be offended.

There is nothing wrong with Warrener's comments as he was speaking the truth. Iggy was less of a power forward than before, less of a spark, lead by see what I can do on the ice.
Rhett just has the guts tospeak out on the radio. And I absolutely agree on that, especially after the loss to the Wild.

I had no beef with Rhett's comments he called it like a lot of people see it. I have heard him say plenty of times that Iggy is a leader by example and not a rah-rah guy in the room.
I do like that Rhett is tipping the bucket with his off the cuff comments. Ryan Smyth and Dany Heatley have taken some heat from him and that is moving over into some media outlets in Minny and Edmonton.

It is an opinion. The fact that you agree with the opinion does not make it truth.
Saying Iginla is 35 is truth. Saying he has slowed down or is playing a different style is an opinion - regardless of the degree of expertise that he brings to ths situation, or how close he is to the team.

While Warrener was Iggy's team mate and since he has retired i believe they have remained very good friends.
JMO
I wouldn't be surprised at all if they have met since the comments and shared a laugh.
Iggy probably would be, hey man why did you say that and Warrener would respond with because you needed it.
Then have a game of COD.

Judging by Jaromes reaction on TSN when Jermaine Franklin pretty much asked him about Warreners comments without actually saying it, I would think they are still good friends. Jarome, Conroy, Regehr, Warrener, Ference and Kipper are all still pretty close friends.

I know my wife's company insures Iggy, Regehr, Sarich, Conroy, Warrener and Gelinas. Kipper i don't think so.

You might be wrong. In my experience, as long as you don't try to rub it in and don't try to evade criticism or a possible backlash yourself, people generally have no problem with straighshooters. Some even think very highly of that.
Never lost a friend over that myself, even though I can be quite harsh at times.
