I don't really get the argument. He isn't good. That's not even debateable. It's not Flames fans hating on media it's just pure incompetence. He is dull, dull, dull. He should be back on radio where he did a fine job.
What's the big deal? He can't do the job well.

Charlie wed a PMOY, so he has diplomatic immunity.

I like Rob Kerr and hope he sticks around for a while. Loubo was great too. Some of you seem to be more interested in the broadcast announcers than you are in the hockey. Maybe we have all been spoiled by Pete Maher.

When i hear Kerr i makes me think spaztic kid with ADD. I imagine him in the booth spinning around in his chair eating cotton candy and a big Gulp through a swirly straw.

It's embarassing that Rob Kerr is the PBP man for an NHL team. He is so bad that even Sportsnet should be ashamed of having him on the air and that's saying a lot.
I personally think Rob was great on the Fan and he should get back into radio - leave the pbp calling to the pros.

I'm not a huge Kerr fan but we are hating on him way too much. Finding someone who can call a live hockey game isn't an easy task. Seriously, do some prep work yourself and put the game on mute and try calling even five minutes. If Sportsnet was going to be finding new PBP announcers they would be doing something in Edmonton before Calgary.

Well what about Maher's Cervenka pronunciation, that's a little annoying if you want to split hairs.

Millions was by far the best and it would great to see him back doing play by play and Kerr back to the fan where he was really good.
|
Millions was by far the worst in my opinion. Too much of a homer. Kerr is OK, and I think, with a better sidekick, could be good.
As many have already said, no matter who it is( short of Peter Maher) they will always get bashed on here.

I get what your saying its kind of flamboyant. That must be the way his name is actually pronounced? because i noticed that it was announced the same way at the dome when he got his first assist.
Maher is a perfectionist so i wouldn't be surprised if he asked Hudler even what is the way Cervenka wants his name pronounced.

I don't think he has any sense of context. So his excitement always seems incongruent with the excitement of the moment. I think that's what most people have a problem with.

They all have quirks, even Whalen. None of them are worth getting worked up about. If we had the idiot hosting the Oilers broadcast though, I am not sure how I could deal with it.

I personally would give R.J. Broadhead a chance at the Flames gig if he wants it?

I much prefered Loubo over Kerr and Millions. Loubo>Millions>Kerr.
John Davidson was AWESOME. Bowman was a great color guy. Ed Whalen was easy to listen to, and the 'right' kind of quirky. However, the Flames have never had a 'smarter' guy than Peter Loubardias. It took a little while to get used to his voice - but then I really liked it. Millions was ok - nothing about his PBP really bothered me too much really. Kerr... I am not sure what the reason is, but I am just finding him more and more aggravating.
I also agree with everyone's take of Simmer's 'insight' as to how players are moving their feet. I have never seen anyone, anywhere have a job by just stating the same thing over and over and over again.

Seems like they brought him in to give the morning crew more material to work with since after Mike Richards left, the morning shows gone majorly downhilll.

He is much less a homer than the Canucks guy or Quinn.
And no more a homer than Zloubardias without the awful voice or stupid comments but everybody will have different opinions I guess.
