As the popularity of the festival increases so does the value of the Plus pass. If you buy it early enough it's only $50 more than a regular pass and it gets you to the front of every line.
I ended up wussing out and not going out last night. I was tired and want to be rested enough to make it to see OFF! tonight. It sucks that Mac DeMarco canceled. I wanted to see him too.

There was a seperate line for the "plus pass" at Swans....it had about half as many people as the regular line and they weren't moving either.
That's what they did at UMO. People with tickets walked right in. I got there at 10:50 and got in at about 11:30. Good show. Played for about 1:15. Sounds like Iceage only played for 30 minutes so it seems like I made the right call.
Colin Stetson was really great. Really really great.
Really not a fan of Broken City though. Can't see the band because they are barely elevated from the crowd. I'm tall so I'm one of the last guys who should be complaining about being able to see bands. Still, it's a small space and you can't see the band. Having said that I'll probably still wander over there for METZ after Explosions tomorrow. Don't think I have a shot at getting into Joel Plaskett.
Trout- I'm going to try to be at Republik a little after 10. I think THEEsatisfaction will have a pretty decent draw too. I'd say try to not be later than 11.
You have to get there early, if there is a band you want to see at 11, you need to be there at 8 or 9 latest. If it is a show they sell tickets for, then maybe even earlier.
I was at the Palomino at 7:30pm and walked right in and even got a table. Saw Black Thunder and Sunshine upstairs, and a mystery band downstairs at about 10pm. They were listed as TBA on the scheule and there is nothing on the website, so I have no idea who they are. They were really good.
After that I went to HiFi and there was no one there at 10pm. Walked straight in. I'm assuming this was because everyone was at dickens and Commonwealth. Saw Valiska, Burrow, Bear Mountain and Gaslamp Killer. The place was packed by the time Bear Mountain came out at 12:00am and stayed packed for Gaslamp Killer.
Mystery Band downstairs at Palomino at 10pm. Anyone know who they are?
Valiska at HiFi
Burrow, these guys played 3 18 minute instrumentals that blended into each other.
Bear Mountain:
Gaslamp Killer:
Really, really disappointed that Mac DeMarco had to cancel.
Tonight I will probably be at the East Village block party in the afternoon if the weather cooperates and then head to the Legion to see July Talk and Jon Spencer.
I'm really worried about Plaskett on Friday now. I was hoping to see a bit of Explosions in the Sky, but now I don't know what I'm going to do. Although Flames Central is a lot bigger than the venues last night, hopefully there won't be a huge issue.

Plaskett is sold out, so you need to get there at 8pm to get in I would guess with a wristband.
It's getting pretty ridiculous. I don't know what the answer is. Stop selling tickets and just do wristbands? How many tickets do they sell for shows?
Mac Hall would work, but that kind of takes away from the goal of keeping pretty much everything downtown.
On the latest podcast Aubrey mentioned she was buying tickets to shows he really wanted to see even though she had a wristband. I'd hate for this to become the only way to guarantee seeing your favourite act.
I agree the ability to quickly walk or bike between shows is a selling point for the festival. I'd rather it stay that way.
I'm still waffling on Superchunk or Jon Spencer tonight. Have wanted to see both for a long time.
Thursday’s show in Calgary will be without bassist Laura Ballance, who begged off touring due to continued hearing problems. Ballance, who co-founded the band and its label, Merge Records, with singer-guitarist Mac McCaughan in 1989, has not left the band. But Jason Narducy, who also plays with Merge labelmate Bob Mould, has stepped in for the show and a subsequent tour of the U.S. that will start after the August release of the band’s 10th album, I Hate Music.

So the Superchunk show has been moved to Flames Central. I was going to head to the Ironwood but I don't know if it'll be open the way things are going.

Inglewood has been evacuated, so I would say it's probably closed
