Why are you passing if you are up 3 touchdowns at the start of the second half. Even the pats and packers work the run at that point.

I am curious as to what defines a 'magical' interception. I throw some picks but there has yet to be an interception that couldn't happen in real life NFL, in my experience so far.

Ditto. All of my interceptions have occurred because I'm an idiot.

Same, I think every pick I have thrown is a result of throwing into double or triple coverage. Nothing magical about those picks.

Same here, I've been taking more time with my passes and I've gotten a lot better. I never throw more than 2 picks a game unless I get frustrated and force bad throws

From the sounds of things you're forcing the ball way too much. Just because you're passing the ball to a player you think should be able to make a play on it despite a defender being in the vicinity of the ball path, doesn't mean he will. You gotta either develop more patience, pick more ideal plays/routes (shorter, quicker routes), or sometimes just give up on a play and throw it away or take the sack to avoid turning the ball over. Just like in real life, sometimes a play just isn't going to have success.

You really have to aim and time your throws this year. Try making more bullet-to-back-shoulder throws. Lead your receiver away from the DB, but throw the ball hard enough that the DB doesn't have time to turn around and nab it.
This game is incredibly detailed and intricate. I'm really enjoying it so far. I also like how making offensive line adjustments pre-snap seems to actually protect the QB this year.

This is the worst iteration of madden yet. I don't think I've fumbled like this it been intercepted ever. Every handoff I get trucked and fumble, even pressing r1 vi turned it over 15 times in 1 game.
If you run a crossing route there is zero separation regardless of attributes, you can't lead a receiver either the linebacker just picks it off. You can't drop the ball over a defender either it's a under throw every time and int.
Frustrating game. Through 2 games I have 5 touchdowns 11 interceptions and 20 fumbles.

I think they've just made the game a lot more realistic and difficult. You can't just hold sprint and run straight into tackles, its much better to hold off and sprint and find a hole to get through first.
Same with the passing game, you have to look to see where safeteys are and where you can find a receiver with one on one coverage. I've thrown a number of picks, but it has almost always been when my first two options didn't get open and I mashed a button to avoid a sack.
Madden still has a lot of things they can improve on, but I quite like this game.

Not sure how getting trucked on every play is realistic and fumbling. The interceptions are dumb, I throw into 1 on 1 and apparently Greg Jennings is a slow as molasses because he cannot get behind anyone. Having a taller receiver makes no difference either you can't lob up a pass to Calvin Johnson because the db has Dwight Howard vertical.

I haven't had a problem with fumbling at all. I've been stuffed on plenty of runs, but I have had very few fumbles.
Are you using the left stick when you are passing? I find that I can usually aim the ball into a spot that will be away from the coverage, so even if I don't complete the pass I don't usually get picked off.

Yeah I use the left stick. It doesn't lead it's so annoying.

I usually buy the Madden series and then end up trading it in by the time November rolls around (partially due to the emergence of hockey every year), but I'll probably hold on to it this year. The infinity engine does a lot for the series, and I'm really enjoying the all-around game this time.
I haven't been having any absurd issues with fumbles/interceptions that weren't in large part my own negligent doing. One thing I did was crank the "speed threshold" slider down to 10, which increases the disparity between the fastest and slowest players. This would probably help speedy receivers bust away on their routes and prevent what one poster was complaining about. I play as the Titans, so it's lights-out to the defense if I can get Chris Johnson in open space with the speed threshold adjusted...

I don't know man, I use the left stick to lead and I've had no problems, even after I dialed QB accuracy down to 10. I almost find passing too easy in this game. AI plays cover 2 way too much.

This. It was driving me nuts when I would scramble with Vick and get chased down by DTs. But yeah, speed differential changes everything. I've also gotten way better at reading blitzes and making line adjustments this year, which is buying me a lot more time in the pocket for crossing routes, deep passes, etc.

My picks are 100% due to my stupidity and forcing the ball. I find that playcalling actually makes a difference n how you can attack the D. Use the run to set up the pass and don't force the same routes every play.
I like the DBs actually being competent in this version. Far more realistic, however, agreed with the above poster in that they play too much cover 2 and 10 yard outs are almost a gimme.

It's not even just the outroutes. The safeties don't shade the enough. I've found that on a three-step drop I can hit my WRs on go routes, right between the safety and CB, if I throw as soon as I finish my dropback. I also usually have to aim it towards the sidelines, because there's not a tonne of space, but it usually works.
