Just a few more minutes and the Wii-U is revealed! I don't care for consoles, but I think, deep down, I am still a bit of a Nintendo fanboy at heart, as are a lot of people my age that grew up with the NES and SNES, I think. I hope they have a lot of software on show today, because just showing some tech demos isn't going to cut it, IMO.

WiiU looks like a giant Vita.

Wow, they're going to show 23 Wii-U games today.

I don't see how they'll keep that controller under $300, let alone the system itself.

So I still don't get how the Wii U is supposed to be used (can't watch the video from work).
Does one user get the wierd giant piece of soap tablet controller? The others get the Xbox ripoff controllers? Where does the motion play come in as I didn't see any Wiimotes or is there some kind of IR motion device like the Kinnect also?

Get to the games! These "social gaming" features are so boring.
Hack&Lube: There is motion control in the controller itself.

The New Super Mario Brothers-U looks pretty fun, but it's no Galaxy. I'm not going to buy a console for it. I wish they would stop pushing these social gaming features. They seem to be building the game around that idea.

"Thanks Rehgee"
Also, WiiVerse is just a little bit odd to say.

Only two gamepads supported... So the whole purpose of a game like NSMB is now limited to two local players.
Wake up, Nintendo.
Nobody is going to use these embarrassing text messages in the game or lobby. How many friends do people actually have one their consoles to have the same effect that they have in this demo?

They still have the "WiiMotes," and as Reggie just said you can apparently use four of the Wii remotes and the gamepad in NSMB.

He said you can only use them like you would in SMG multiplayer, where the players with the Wiimotes don't actually do anything besides shoot things and place blocks. They don't control a character.
Simply awful.

So they are showing 3rd-party support by showing a port that originally came out half a year ago? Arkham City is a great game, but I've already played it. The new controller features with it look really cool, but it would be a lot more impressive if it was a new game. This is a new console -- show new games!!

I thought he said the block crap was with the gamepad? I was sort of half-paying attention, though. The repeated titles of adding Wii or Mii to everything got a bit tiring.

The main controller here should be their new 360 clone. That's how I want to play games.

They better be saving something good for last, because this sucks. How disappointing.

Not too sure about Nintendo here.
They will continue to sell units due to the love for their first party franchises (Mario, Zelda, DK, Metroid) but they continue to be a step behind in graphics and technology.
Nothing I have seen here looks any better then PS3 or XBOX 360 and we already are hearing about how that tech is too dated.
The benefit they get from the WII U tablet thing is going to be overstated as they can only have 2 per system and it seems that the player is just forced into playing games different ways, plus it is nothing the PS3 can't do in combination with a Vita.
Not a good sign when one of the main games for your new system is pretty much just a Karaoke machine.

Sing. Holy sh*t Nintendo. You are so good at making me feel incredibly uncomfortable. Spike TV has a realtime feedback meter that you can click on and it just crashed through hell.
