Reading this thread makes me hungry for a Keith's Deli sandwich.
Also, I agree with the pro Safeway sentiment. Damn fine sandwich.

Anyone ever tried that deli sandwich place next to the jugo juice in the new wing of chinook? Not bad.

I walk past Mauro's coming back to work from school every day.
Anyone know how are the line ups are between 1:30 and 2:30pm? I might be tempted to stop in for a late lunch if it is reasonable.

I am still choked that Subway decimated their $5 Footlog Subs list. Everything left is just cheap & nasty. At least the meatball, cold cut, and ham subs were edible.
Safeway subs are definitely the way to go. The Lumberjack sub must be made for the Gods.

We used to get two of those bad boys to feed the whole hockey team. And I think they only run about 20 bucks? Maybe even less....
How about a CP Men vs. Food challenge where we sit down and see who can finish an entire Lumberjack within 2 hrs?

There probably wouldn't be a lineup at that point, but they might be out of the ingredients for the proscuitto and bocconcini sandwich. I think they run pretty light on their daily supply of ingredients.

I did this once during a Packers/Bears game. I thought I was going to require hospitalization.
For those that have never seen this mythical sandwich, this is a photo I took of one last summer, being strapped to the roof rack of my car.

I'm flying over later this month for 12 days of solid skiing, and I can honestly say that right now, I am salivating at the thought of a Lumberjack Sandwich.
If you haven't tried it yet, what the hell is wrong with you?

Usually lasts me a few days. They're awesome.
Sneak that bad boy into 7-eleven and put warm nacho cheese on it, or open it up and toast it in the oven for a few minutes. Heaven.

Just out of curiosity I grabbed a 6" egg salad sub at lunch today, it wasn't bad. Nothing to write home about but not too bad. Couldn't imagine eating a foot long though.

I've had the lumberjack before.... I dunno, it's OK, but not as good as all of you say it is. Definitely a quantity over quality sort of thing.
The prosciutto and bocconcini sandwich at Mauro though! My god! That is a sandwich! That thing must have been designed by Jesus christ himself. It's too bad it's that good, because their Ruben sandwich is almost as epic. The problem is I can't bring myself to order a fantastic sandwich when the same place sells an epic sandwich.
By the way, this is a picture of the above mentioned sandwich from avenue magazine:

The first time I ate that sandwich from Mauro's, a single tear ran down my cheek. Even just the bread is made up of ground up unicorns and emits rainbows when you bite into it.

I've never tried it but I'm willing to be the egg salad is the worst sandwich on the menu next to the veggie aberration.

I think I'm going to open a deli named "F$#@IN STUFF YOUR FACE" and make the biggest sandwiches anyone's ever seen.

Prosciutto, bacon, blackforest ham, porkchops, pork tenderloin, spareribs...fata I love pork. For an animal that wallows in it's own filth, the pig sure is delicious.
