Not the numbers I was using. That's an entirely separate vote.
But again, keep argueing over a brushstroke and ignoring the entire painting

I believe it was the senate that voted 93% in favor, not the entire house.

No.
There are 435 members of the House of Representatives
There are 100 Senators
Combined they make up a 535 member Congress.

This is all well and good, but I'm actually interested in the bill. Neither of those NY Times articles is particularly descriptive and I'm not watching the Guy Fawkes video, they give opinions of the bill, but what does it actually entail?

But you can't just count the Senate when talking about a potential veto override just to make it look scarier.

I did pose a question earlier about why Congress would turn against Obama, but it wasn't answered. Do you have any information on past vetos of the Presidential veto that could help out (especially when TTC's stat of 96% of Presidential vetos being the final say begins to interact with it)?

It's bill S.1253, Title X, Subtitle D
http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/F?c112:1:./temp/~c112CtSxlJ:e462105:
EDIT - The one that caught my eye when reading it quickly (I THINK it's the right bill) is section 1031
Quote:
- (c) Disposition Under Law of War- The disposition of a person under the law of war as described in subsection (a) may include the following:
- (1) Long-term detention under the law of war without trial until the end of hostilities against the nations, organizations, and persons subject to the Authorization for Use of Military Force.

Yes mikey that was the Senate, and Cole was arguing that if Obama Vetoed the bill that his veto would get overturned because this bill had 93%.
Well with my non-graduate level math skills, and about 30 seconds on google I'm pretty sure that 93% support number is a bunch of hooey!

I see that. I was just trying to clarify that the 93% was the senate vote. I don't know the veto rules myself.
I don't really agree that Congress will veto the veto.

I don't see why Calgarians would be all that worked up about the Constitution. It doesn't apply to them.

After reading some of the replies and commentary from some posters in this thread, it's not you who I'm wondering is a child. Unreal.

^ I don't think many (if any) people in this thread are supporting the proposed legislation. Rather, people have taken issue with the way in which the original poster made his argument against the legislation. Those are two different things.

I don't get that image from this thread. I get that the original post was done very poorly and a great deal of the thread has been used to have fun with the fact that, between many legitimate sources of concern, a video from ANONYMOUS was used.
I haven't seen anyone really support the bill here...

Nope. In fact I commented against them a few times. Thanks for trying, though. Not sure I see how that relates any ways? If I don't agree with the majority critics, my viewpoint is moot?

I think the lesson is that if you want to have a serious debate about an issue you should probably present an intelligent argument, as opposed to a sentence and a video from Anonymous. Why would anyone take you seriously if that's how you're going to present your argument? Add in the 'I'm getting my masters in this' line and the whole thing gets laughable.
It's a real issue, and if the OP is so well versed in it to be pursuing a masters in it you'd think he'd present some actual arguments, links to credible sources and *gasp* thoughts of his own. Instead we get a video and one line comments about the destruction of the Constitution and an impending police state.
