Pretty anxious to see the new Jays uniforms today. They're supposed to basically be a mirror image of the 1993 uni's.
What are everyone's thoughts on the new wildcard spot and 1 game playoff? Personally, I find it a little gimmicky and really undermines the 162 game season. Sure it will be exciting, but it really gives an advantage to the division winners as they'll be facing a team who played for their lives in a 1 game playoff.
Too much of a coin flip for my liking but it will make for some great entertainment for the casual sports fan.

If it's at least a 3 game series I'm OK with it. Not a big fan of the existing wildcard so adding a second doesn't really bug me massively.
I also think that the Jays angle is positive but being pretty overstated. With the amount of divisional games they still need to beat AL East teams...
Looking forward to seeing the new jerseys today too. Might call for a new hat, my blue and white is getting pretty ratty looking anyway.

Simple and beautiful - here's hoping their jersey's follow suit. But it is a great base to start off with, really good job by the club.

So the new logo isn't on the jerseys...just the jay part. That's Okay, still looks great. Was really hoping after seeing that crest that it would be on the jerseys and hats however. Looks like it will be used more just in marketing and advertisements. Fantastic uni's all around.

Well these certainly didn't disappoint. I will be picking up a new hat very soon.
What a fantastic job of re-branding by the Jays. Love the old numbers!

Love it. Especially that they went back to the World Series era ones, as opposed to the 80's era thirds they had been wearing before(those were sick too, but WS era ones were always my faves). Finally I'll be able to find the all blue cap again!

Yeah, absolutely love it! I doubt there's a Jays fan anywhere in the country that doesn't like it.

I guess this signing signals that Type B comp. picks will still be included as part of the new CBA. There's no way the Rays sign a guy like Molina unless they have some insider knowledge concerning the Type B picks.
This signing clearly shows that the Rays' stats guys clearly have similar analysis of the benefits of having a catcher that can frame pitches. Here's some really interesting analysis on the subject that really puts guys like Molina in a different light.
http://www.baseballprospectus.com/ar...rticleid=15093
Based on this, Molina has been worth in excess of 7 wins (10 runs = 1 win) over the past 5 seasons due to his framing alone. And that's with limited playing time. The only guy anywhere close to him on the list is Russell Martin and he had more than double the pitches caught.
