Ever since I heard this story I've hugged my 18m daughter a little tighter whenever I can. Your life was short, but you touched mine.

What a waste, seriously.

Everytime I think about this I see that video of people going by her or steering oround her or that pig in the second truck that casually rolled over her.

If there's a hell its waiting for those two, and the fires are hungry.

Awful end to a poor innocent child's life who deserved so much more.

They shoot enough people in China, please tell me they are going to put two in the back off the head to at least the drivers.

I guess the good news here is that because of the video and the attention the drivers were caught. I'm sure there are other such incidents that go unpunished.

There is no goodwill in China so when someone does something good, it must be for personal gain. That's what people believe there.

I had so many struggles with my Chinese parent-in-laws. They couldn't believe anything at face value. There always had to be some kind of ulterior motive for anything that was good or generous - it had to mean something else, never just common decency or generosity. They were so jaded they thought Canada wasn't even a democracy, that our votes didn't matter and that everything was already decided ahead of time.

I worked with a Chinese guy that could never understand charity. When I was gearing up, and fundraising for the Enbridge Cancer ride, he asked how much of the donations I got to keep... seriously. "I said none, 100% goes to charity." He could not understand why I would "waste my time" with that for people you don't even know, and said I should take some cash donations, and keep them. This is a guy that has been in Canada for 10 years too.

Seeing what is going on with this incident is helping me understand why he thought/felt that way.

Having to take a dump with pigs is ultimately not a problem that makes a person's life sad. It's injustice, abuses of power, lack of trust and security and rising pressure that makes a life unhappy. No doubt those are realities for many, many people in this country and a much bigger problem than having to squat with pigs.

This bump is not an update on the little girl, but I figure this would be a good place to post this. There are other problems concerning Mainland China, problems that will take decades to fix. Pretty crazy.
