I always assumed it was some stylized curling rock.

Aren't TV rights collectively bargained by the league?

Not for the individual team's local/regional rights.

I don't mind the Score going back to the old basic "Headline Sports". Not just the channel showing scores like the mid 90's (although that was a Sports Select dream back in the day...it was that or the Calgary Herald Talkies to keep up with NHL scores), but the one that started in the later 90's, which focused on highlights.
Footy Show is pretty good, and was the best show covering the World Cup in 2010.
Obviosuly a lot of programming has gone, so personalities follow.
That said, I do enjoy just turning on channel 222 at 10 or 11pm and just watching the highlights of the night for an hour.
No egotistical windbags, no grandstanding from a guy trying to carve out a personality, no wasting time with things like the Golf Insider in order to get some extra cash from Nike, when there's nothing to talk about golf wise, or Football or Hockey Insiders again when there's nothing to talk about, only purpose is just to get the guys face out there, and finally, no overly scripted, down to the word, highlights, which are repeated, word for word, at the bottom of the hour (looking at you TSN).
Just highlights, from guys you can tell like sports and not having some script to follow when showing both the usual highlights, as well as the off topic/weird highlights or fan shots. Not a lot of filler on weekend nights with a full slate of football or hockey games, but everything is covered, without the "stay tuned for later in the hour" highlights that the other networks use to keep you watching.
The Score may not make a ton of money with this approach, and maybe not a lot of guys out there that share my thoughts, but for me, much more enjoyable and easier to digest to just sit and watch this then a bunch of talking heads try to create some false chemistry on Sportsnet or TSN.

if Sportsnet wants to be taken seriously as a real network, they need to get rid of the fat construction guy Panago commercials

The 'headlines' section on that website is pretty much at the bottom of the page.
Also - I just tuned into connected to see the changes, they've basically taken TSN's look and feel and tweaked it.

Yeah, and their fans have to pay $10 per month to watch those games over and above anything on their cable bill.

Unless they are with Bell. They will get the channel included for free with their basic package.

Interesting. I'm surprised the CRTC would allow a significantly different price for TSN's corporate parent (Bell) vs the other carriers.

I get that they're trying to be different than the red/black theme that TSN has had for a while now... but the baby blue (or whatever kind of blue you want to call that) color is really offsetting to me for some reason.

I hate the look of the new ticker on sportsnet. It is hideous.

I like the new computer animations, but the overly dramatic music, and awkward intermission panel during the game yesterday reminded me it's the same old sportsnet.

Pretty much this. I actually liked the new graphics & music for Flames games, I'd say its an improvement. But once they get to the intermission panel you remember nothing's changed. Man is that panel unbearable.

Why is John Shannon wearing the same glasses as Bubbles from Trailer Park Boys? Does he realize how silly he looks?
