I listened to him today, and he wasn't as bad as yesterday. But that was probably because it was game day and he didnt have any time to go on his Oiler rants. Still, I'm not liking the direction the station is going and I definitely do not like this guy.

Hey TSN, good time to jump into the am radio foray in cowtown.

I've said it earlier but it bears repeating. Pat sounds like he hates Bryn, like he wants to smack him. The Fan went cheap and should be ashamed.
Bryn was advocating for fans to boo today. Struck me as rather classless.

no offense to 960 fan sportsnet the fan sportsnet 960fan sports guys,
outside of peter and mike, its been rough with the loss of both kerr and mike richards (to toronto not to LA). They have a weak lineup with no clear leader. No one at the station can spell comedy let alone perform it.
its meat and potatoes, which is better than nothing i guess.

I think they missed the boat by not putting Francis on in the afternoon (he was clearly considered) - I know most of the people here hate him but hate >>>> not caring, when it comes to ratings. Francis is loud and opinionated - I think he would have been much like Joe Sports. As has been pointed out above, the station's personalities lack... personality. I like Warrener, but the rest of them are interchangeable cardboard cutouts for the most part, though Boomer has his moments.

I am getting sick of his subtle way of putting the Oilers/Eskimos into every conversation. He keeps asking anyone who will listen when the Flames lose, is the success of the Oilers young kids making it tougher for "us" Flames fans. It's extremely annoying.

i don't find his edmonton bias overwhelming, i think he's worked in other cities as well. That being said i don't think he knows a whole lot about calgary's teams. i really like steinberg, he's professional and lives and breathes sports in general. Strikes me as a guy who knows what an interesting profession he's involved in. Don't get the same vibe from bryn, sounds like a guy who's done this forever.

Yeah I thought it was a little strange when he suggested "do you think the fans let the team off easy?" when talking about the lack of boos in the Vancouver game.
Really now?

Let's hope Mr Griffiths reads Calgarypuck and realizes that we are onto him and his lack of sports knowledge and love for anything Edmonton.

I e-mailed the Fan 960 and told them that Bryn Griffiths is terrible. Also said that I hated how you can hear a segment up to five times a day and then maybe twice on weekends. They wrote back and told me everyone thinks Bryn is great, and they have had no complaints. If we can get enough people to complain to Kelly Kirsch at the Fan, maybe some changes will get made. The station has gone down hill since Richards left and is getting to the point that it is almost unbearable to listen to.

For years and years I hated Francis, despised the guy. Wouldn't listen to him. But now I am older and started listening to him. I don't agree with his takes most of the time, and I still think he tends to come off as a gossip columnist but the truth is he has the right idea. He has an opinion and it at least gets people going one way or the other. I realize that sometimes I can be a lot like him, very opinionated, and I like me. He would be perfect for the show listenership wise, he would at least create some passion. He might make me want to stop listening at some points but I would come back once in a while and he would bring others in. Also he is very aware that he is there to entertain and because he is one of the few sports journalists who gets that, I appreciate that he knows he is filling a role. Some guys take themselves too seriously.

I don't know about Francis. His thinly veiled hate for the Flames and rumours intended to stir up s**t don't seem like an improvement.
To me, the voices on the Fan960 are just a jumble no,w and I don't really hear anything entertaining or anything to grab my attention. I used to listen every morning while Richards was on (although he seemed to talk often about his Sports Select picks with guests was getting kind of annoying). Now I only tune in for about 20 minutes for Flames at 5, and the rest of the day is CBC Radio #1.
I'd listen to TSN if they were here and Calgary-centric enough.

Boomer and Kerr were awesome in the afternoons, and they are being missed dearly.
Every afternoon I can see through the radio Pat looking at Bryn with a 'WTF?!' look everytime he opens his mouth. Pat's doing his best but a one man show is only so good.

That was the scariest thing for me yesterday. I found myself agreeing with him on a few things in contrast to what Bryn was saying.

Well love him or hate him Rob Kerr was an intelligent guy and a good hockey analyst and this helped him to provide relevant and interesting analysis.
Bryn just seems more like your average guy with average, fairly uninteresting analysis of things.

For sure, my buddy & I while listening to Bryn often comment how we could do as good or better at breaking down info on the Flames & Stamps providing "insight" into what's going on. He definitely has a bias towards the Oilers & Eskimos which doesn't bother me; what bothers me is how he tries to hide it by making childish comments about how irrelevant those teams are after going on about them for 2 or 3 minutes. It's strikingly similar to the way a high school boy would spout nonsensical degradations towards a pretty girl in class just to hide the fact he's head over heels in love with her but knows she wouldn't give him the time of day lol.
If your a homer for a team thats not local then fine, just let everyone know where you stand! Warrener makes no bones about the fact he loves the Riders (& not much for the Flames) but most of us like him anyways. Thank goodness for Retro or else I wouldn't listen to the morning show at all.
