^^ Certain hotels are a 100% no for tipping to get a upgrade. Its worth a shot, put a 20 between your drivers license and CC at check in. Only once have I had the person ask what it was for, chances are they already know and get back to work on the comp. As they are typing away just ask for what you want. IE, high floor pool view or strip view.

They are all up and down the strip and you can often buy for the day of and the next day as well.

So you just throw a 20 in there subtly and say "I'd really love a bigger room or a view!" ? Can you tell I'm a businessman who's never 'bribed' before?

Just ask when you check in, especially if it's a mid week stay week. "Is there any complimentary upgrade available"?

Sounds good - I am checking into Aria at about 11:30pm on a Wednesday, so hopefully I can snag something! Would greasing him with a $20 and then asking help out?
eff it, I am going to try, bribery here I come!

The Improv shows are great. I believe it is Harrah's that hosts those or the hotel next to it. Been super every time. Also, watch for random comedy shows that pop up at other hotels.

O'Sheas is a dump and is never a good option. That place is pure Vegas trash.
EDIT: I don't want to be rude, but I just don't think it suits Vegas very well. It's more like The Den at the U of C. Just not the kind of place I want to be at when in Vegas. Defeats the whole purpose.

That's your opinion. I am sorry you had a poor experience there, but it has been extremely fun every time I have gone. I flat out said there is cheap Booze and beer pong there. If that is something he wants to do, he can go. I know for a fact there are others on here that had a good time there. I guess that makes me and them trash.
What exactly suits Vegas ? What makes it so fun is the wide range of things to do at all income levels.

Free drinking tip:
You will hear a lot of people tell you to drink for free in the casinos. This is true, but if you're not going to gamble very much while doing so (it would really defeat the purpose to drink for free while losing money gambling)...
Sit down a video poker / keno machine and put in a buck or a couple bucks and just kill time.
The trick is, when the waitress takes your order and returns with your free drink... tip her a buck.
Doesn't sound like much, but if you do this she will come back quicker and more often. Continue tipping a buck for each drink (so instead of free drinks you're paying a dollar a drink) and you'll get your fill.
Not tipping ensures she won't be back very fast or often.
Just some advice if you're electing to drink for free in a casino.

A better way to do this if you want to watch sports is to head to one of the bars in the casino that have video poker built into the bar and TVs above. Start playing video poker and just ask the bartender to keep 'em coming. Give him a nice tip though.

Yes and most of them know the drill and will even tell you to just put a quarter in the machine so they can hook you up. Same deal, just tip'em and they'll keep em coming.

Tip # xxx, Drink beer vs high balls. By the time your second high ball comes you have killed the buzz from the first one.
I got busted playing penny slots and ordering doubles every 5 minutes by someone higher up than the waitress. I was told to bet more or she wouldnt come around as much. I just made sure to up my bet when I saw him around.

We had a waitress in the NYNY casino one time who said we were tipping too much by giving her a buck a drink. She was the best waitress I ever had at Vegas. She came around about every 15 minutes and was very friendly.

Sign up for M life at an MGM casino and they will send you cheap offers for rooms on your next trip. My Family and I stay at Vdara and Signature now using M life Comps. They also have express comps that you can use at any MGM Resort restaurant including the Skybox at Aria. Aria has a nice vibe to it. There is a small bar at the main guest elevators that has a piano player during the evening that you can use your free drinks at. If you ask nicely they will usually upgrade your free drink to a premium. Also check out Jean Phillipe, they have the best Pastries and coffee.
My wife and I have pretty much stayed at all the main strip, off strip, and the Golden Nugget Hotels and our favorite complex is now the city centre(Aria, Vdara, Cosmo). After being out at other hotel casinos you will appeciate returning here. One tip at Aria use the back enterance(Harmon) for getting a Cab or Valet, there are usually no guests there.

I think it was at MGM I was at before a Ka show (I thought it was absolutely amazing for the record) and we were killing time beforehand playing penny slots and drinking. I'd order up a double/triple and a beer for myself and a drink for the gf and tip about three bucks. She'd always be around every 10 minutes or so to bring us another round.
Out of curiosity I asked her if people generally tip (it was my first trip to Vegas). She said it was typically 50/50 then went out of her way to thank me for my generosity. I laughed kind of laughed to myself, but she was serious. I'll pay $3 all day every day for that round!

Any suggestions on reasonably priced places to eat? Looking for good italian, burgers, sushi, etc.
Thoughts? We are doing (as I mentioned) Europe next month, so we'll do some fine dining there. In Vegas we're looking for good value, middle-of-the road price-point food for dinners, lunches, etc?
What are good buffets? you always hear about Vegas buffets, what are some to check out?

Planet Hollywood buffet was the best I tried.

Have to second O'Shea's. If you're not into sitting in front of a slot for hours just to score a few cheap drinks and you're not a huge table fan then going to a place with $2 heineken bottles is pretty sweet. We stopped in on a Saturday night last time and they had a band playing and it was a house party atmosphere inside. And on another trip they had the poker table sitting almost on the strip outside. It was really cool.
BTW, I'm not saying to hang out there all night but it's a great place to stop by for a few while you bar hop the strip.
