Google doesn't need you to stay on the Google+ website. They make money whenever you use anything with AdSense ads on them (almost everything). Aside from just being helpful, I would suggest the main reason they've introduced Google+ is to make sure Facebook (No AdSense there) doesn't "become" the internet. I see a lot of similarities in how ubiquitous the "Like us on Facebook" phrase has become to the "AOL Keyword: whatever" that used to be on every commercial and magazine ad. Back then, for most people AOL was the internet, and now many people are probably spending less and less time outside Facebook's virtual walls.

So thus... G+... they want you on there. Be it their hangout area or whatever, their goal is to keep users on their page.
Hmm...that's the exact opposite way I've always used Facebook. I want to read updates and be done with it as quick as I possibly can. I have no intention on checking hundreds of photos from your latest trip to Denny's and I don't want to play Farmville. I just want to see what my friends and family are up to in a quick summary and move on.

But what if I had pictures of tiger woods and his waitress friend? Still no interest?

For those that want invites still, apparently I don't need you're PM's and emails address. Just use this link. First 150 people get in.

I had to cut down the links, since the post was 25k characters long, so in the unlikely event that some of them are already spent, can post some of the others.

Spoiler!

Well that's a bit of a gamer changer.... <pun intended>

The real test will be if Roxio, Zynga or Chilliango bite. If those guys start porting their games to Google+ then this might be a bit interesting.

So, a few days I joined G+ and I've liked it. I thought I'd share my experiences.

About third of my facebook contacts are already there, plus a couple of people who never got a Facebook account, so that makes for a nice experience. II think a large reason why I've liked G+ is because of the types of people who have joined; I seem to get a lot less crappy "look at this sill photo" flood and a lot more interesting, thoughtworthy stuff out of G+. This is something I don't mind. I think it says more about some peoples distaste for Facebook than their actual preference for Google+, but the end result is the same. Also, because of the same distaste for Facebook, a lot of those people are really using G+, or G+ and Facebook combined through third party apps.

G+ still pretty obviously not a ready product, lots of little things that need to be fixed and improved on, so I can't recommend it to people who are annoyed by that kind of stuff. A lot of functionality will propably be through other Google products, which is a little weird at first, but propably something I'll get used to. For starters, I've never used an online photo service, but through G+ I now have some picture of myself in Picasa, and I might use it for something else in the future. This is obviously a big part of what Google wants. I don't mind, but then again I have very little against the Google overlords. Others might not agree.

I'm hoping they'll make a separate event-thingie for G+ though, to have that stuff handled through Google Calendar would be way too impractical (for starters because it's not a very good calendar software) and right now event invitations the biggest reason for me to be in Facebook.

Something I feel is worth mentioning, G+ has I think the best feedback system I've ever used, at least for a casual user like me. It's the first time I've actually bothered to send multiple feedback messages. That's something that gives me hope that it might actually turn out pretty well, as they've obviously put some thought into the user feedback process.

So since Google+ is currently being used as mostly a Twitter replacement. Who are some of the people you follow that make great posts?
Here's my top list:

Matthew Inman (The Oatmeal)
Tom Anderson (Founder of mySpace)
Robert Scoble (Tech evangelist)

I don't have a FB account myself, but I don't know a single person with a FB account who actively uses G+. Not a single one. Looks like Google has another social networking dud on their hands.
