For anyone who enjoyed the In Rainbows Radiohead, they're gone.

^ agreed. it sounds an awful lot like a basterd child of "amnesiac" and "the eraser".
there are a couple gems though. perhaps repeated listens will bring the rest out.
not a huge fan of the electronic drums on this though.

The thing with Yorke's solo work is so often it's just missing the Greenwood touch. Really digging it so far. Although it's not love at first listen like In Rainbows was. That could be a good thing.

I'm in the same boat at this point, although only half way through the album.
Just waiting for something to blow me away.

I don't think he's dancing, it's just muscle spasms from such tight pants.

Hmmm, I don't really want to listen until after work, but everyone seems to be suggesting it's a huge departure from In Rainbows. I've learned to never label an album good or bad for a few days, but I would be very disappointed with a weak album.

I would give it a 7 out of 10.....starts out really strong and then kind of zones along. For me it is comparable to "The Age of Adz" lots of weird noises that turn out to be interesting music but only half the length?. A little slow but a good EP for sure...

Lotus Flower is minimal. Mostly drums and vox.

It's layered and elusive but it's not weak. It's most similar to Amnesiac, and unsurprisingly that's the kind of reception it's getting. A few will love it, most won't know what to make of it, and there will be those decrying it as a massive disappointment. Once the dust settles in a year or two, a real critical analysis can be drawn. Usually Radiohead's albums grow in stature as the years go by. We will see with this one.

As with all radiohead albums, I am currently listening to it on the first time through and it isn't striking me as all that special. However, every single album has had the effect of growing on me over time (and it isn't a forced growing either) so I fully expect this one to do the same. I thought In Rainbows was pretty meh the first time through, and now it is up there with Kid A for me in my favorite albums.

Second listen is much better than the first for me. I can see myself loving this album.

It sucks that it's so cold outside. A good way to get a feel for a Radiohead album is to walk around at night listening to it. Not doing that in -25.

Yuh, Kid A is the quintessential "night time in the winter" album imo. I'm driving to banff in a couple hours- should be a good time to have a first listen to king of limbs...
Edit- alright, I couldn't wait. Listening in my office kind of sucks, but whatever. 2 songs in and love what I'm hearing.

Same with me. Made my work day much more interesting. First impression is good, I love the layers of sounds they are going for. Its gonna take some digesting to get a real feel for the album, probably at least a couple listens through.

Listening at work is really hard, because there's always the nagging "you're not being very productive" voice in the back of your mind.
