I will miss Bourdain very much. I've read all his books, and watched almost every one of his shows.

His ability to connect with other people, regardless of language or culture, was astounding and was what made his television shows so entertaining. It's so sad to learn his demons caught up to him, and really hard to grasp that even someone with such amazing interpersonal skills was still struggling with mental illness.

RIP Tony.

Maybe some people could actually read the first pages though and watch the videos prior to posting.

You’re a pretty unlikeable person. Congrats, I guess?

Loved Bourdain’s shows. Very sad to hear this news. His battles with heroin and cocaine when he was younger were severe, but he overcame those to accomplish a ton in his life. Really admired his take on the world and openness to other perspectives and cultures.

Can we keep this about Anthony Bourdain already?

I know its shocking because he seemingly had it all, money, fame, reknown, inspiration and the coolest job on the face of the earth which makes the news all that much more difficult.

But we dont have to turn the whole thread into a complete tire-fire.

Lets not 'Edmonton' this up.

I envy people who have never suffered from crippling depression or anxiety and therefore don't understand the struggle some people face when it comes to suicidal thoughts & actions. It would be such a privilege to be able to hold those opinions and judgements due to ignorance and inexperience. I truly mean that.

Or you know, we're in a complex topic about suicide with some very challenging, non-sympathetic opinions being raised. But way to make light of mental issues.

You’re clearly just looking for a fight, but I will say that misconceptions that people dealing with mental health issues are broken and otherwise faking or acting out happiness are just that, misconceptions, and don’t do anything useful in helping people understand these issues.

I’m sure you’re too busy looking for a video of his suicide to post in the “Funny/cool pics/videos” thread to actually explore the issue, but it’d be worth your time.

I don't hate it here, I just hate abject losers like yourself. I'm glad you're trying to get a remembrance thread locked though, you must feel very proud of yourself. Thankfully mods will simply delete all your useless posts instead.

“Do we really want to travel in hermetically sealed popemobiles through the rural provinces of France, Mexico and the Far East, eating only in Hard Rock Cafes and McDonalds?” Mr. Bourdain wrote in the memoir. “Or do we want to eat without fear, tearing into the local stew, the humble taqueria’s mystery meat, the sincerely offered gift of a lightly grilled fish head? I know what I want. I want it all. I want to try everything once.”

Devastating news. I truly admired Bourdain and have been a huge fan of his for many years. I loved the way he looked at life and he really inspired me to dive further into two of my greatest passions - food and travel. How he looked at the world with such a great appreciation for different cultures was truly inspiring.

He will be greatly missed. RIP.

Bourdain was one of the very few where, if he went somewhere and enjoyed it, I knew it was a spot worth going.
