I tend to agree with you. I think Ortio has played his way out of the Flames plans. I could see Gillies and Pouin in the AHL with MacDonald in the ECHL.
The big club could wel have 2 new goalies, or Ramo and a veteran in another 1A/1B scenario.
I really don't see where Ortio fits in.
Assumes Gillies is 100% healthy though. That is a concern.

Just looking at it, does it concern anyone else that Mangiapane was 1.52 PPG last season, and 1.57 PPG this season? Shouldn't we be seeing more progression and higher scoring?

He's been on fire of late after a so-so start that finished with an 8 game suspension. Since coming back from that he's been on fire including multiple hat-trick nights in the last stretch here. It looks like he's starting to hit his stride, still a long rode for him to be something at the pro levels but I still think there is something potentially special with this pick.

Yeah I've been following him this year, and I've been pleased with his point production, especially with his play the last few weeks. I was just hoping he'd up his PPG pace.
He had 3 assists tonight, and they look to all he the primary assists on Lebanc's hat trick.
Edit: Mangiapane had all primary assist, two on Lebanc's, one on Nattinen.

Not sure why people compare Mangiapane to Byron. He's 5'10". Bug difference from being 2-3 inches smaller and comparable to the smaller skilled guys.

Not really. He still went up, which is good. Averages are funny. He's got 68 points, let's just say if he had picked up 7 more secondary assists and was at 75 points, he'd have an average of 1.79...does that make him that much of a better player? I don't think so.

And that difference could be entirely due to his linemates or the team in general.

If anything, Mangiapane reminds me of Brendan Gallangher.

My only thinking is that he is a 19, going on 20 y/o playing against mostly 17 and 18 y/o kids. I would hope his production in general would be markedly higher than last year.
Edit:
Mangiapane with 2g1a and Andersson with 1a in a 7-6 win over Hamilton.

True.
Cammy is 5'9" and 185lbs, while Sven Baertschi is 5'10" and 190lbs.
Mangiapane is only 170 lbs, so he's easily 15 pounds underweight.

He sure does seem to be having a lot of 3 point games lately.

Because he plays like Byron, just with a shot-release that can probably beat NHL goalies. He's the first guy to every loose puck, he battles in the corners, and what he lacks in size he makes up in persistence and attitude. He's a grinder. Also I'd wager Eatbread is only 5'8" or so anyways.

Well if he keeps up his 2016 pace, he'll finish this season @ 1.8 PPG...

Becoming another Byron is not a bad thing. Byron was a great player for the Flames and he's doing well in Montreal. If Mangiapane puts on 15 lbs and becomes a puck-seeking Pitbull like Byron, only carrying a more deadly shot, he could be a very valuable player

Mangiapane picked up another hat trick tonight.
39 goals in 44 games for the season.

4 straight 3-point games for Mangiapane. 9 goals in 5 games in February, including 2 hat tricks. He's now third overall in the OHL for goals, only 2 behind the leader in an equal number of games.

5th straight 3 point game for Mangiapane. 2g1a in a 6-4 loss to Kingston.
I believe that puts him 1 goal behind Dvorak for OLH lead.
Edit:
It also puts him in 4th for scoring in the CHL, with Christian Dvorak of the OHL, Dryden Hunt of the WHL, and Michael Carcone of the QMJHL all 1 goal ahead of him.

But we're still not allowed to get excited about him right.
