At this point, I own one ship, and would jump on board with a CP Fleet. I haven't committed anywhere else (or even thought about for that matter).
Too bad we didn't think of this sooner. Might have been able to "group-buy" a carrier for ourselves.
The largest ship made available by funding was the Iridis Corvette. They had a limited quantity of 250 available during a live stream and they sold out in 9 minutes (at $1000 a pop)
Honestly I really want an MISC Freelancer. That is my goal in the game. I don't really have the expendable funds to just buy it now, so I will work my way up to it in-game.
One of my main interests in this game, because it sounds like it will actually be viable and worthwhile, is exploration. So my first ship will be the RSI Aurora ES, with plans to eventually upgrade to a MISC Freelancer.
This game is supposed to support Oculus Rift for the first fully immersive space shooter/FPS universe.
If that's the case, I won't need my Eyefinity setup anymore but I have no idea how I'll see the keyboard or my other controls. I'll have to memorize everything by feel?

I think a game pad will be PERFECT for this. I have an Xbox 360 controller to use with my computer for this exact kind of thing. Plus, the Xbox 360 controller is the one being used by the Oculus Rift developers at the moment.

Who plays space shooters with a keyboard/mouse?
Logitech G490 or bust.

I would think TrackIR would be the ideal setup for a game like this. Being able to look around independent of where you're flying could be very useful.
For those that haven't watched this video, there's a key line that Roberts drops:
"After the campaign, you can upgrade your ship, buy more ships, maybe buy some real estate"
Kind of confirms that at the very least you'll have someplace to call home and pimp out as you please, but talk is that it'll go further then that and you can own businesses (lines up with their internal stock market planned)
This is making my plan of starting my own criminal syndicate sound much more viable

I'll be the one charting some out of the way star system and selling you the jump map so you can secure your criminal base of operations in a lawless system.
