Ugh...
Leafs and avs get better.
Flames getting shutout this offseason is gonna hurt. Last season was great, but banking on replicating the offence is stupid.
This could get ugly if all the landing spots for brodie, Frolik, stone dry up.
Frigin weak

The Leafs are an embarrassingly soft team as it sits today.

They don't really NEED Kerfoot, perhaps they flip him and something else for more help on D... lotsa time left.

After Kadri messed up in crunch time in two consecutive playoff years, it really appears the Leafs were shopping him as the odd man out. Definitely looks like Dubas is doubling down on skill, speed and offense as the way forward and Kadri was expendable. I don't know if this is a right move or wrong one, but the Leafs were top heavy on offense so in that regard sacrificing a forward for a dman was a good move. Where I don't know if it's a right move is to go with more flight at the expense of possibly their only true gritty forward. If you look at their main competition, they're basically saying they're hoping their torrid pace will outdo Boston's grinding game. They need to replace Kadri with a skilled grinder on the bottom six now.

Why? You expect Tkachuk to regress? The top line went stagnant after the all star break and our 3rd line cant do much worse.
The only regression i see is Gio not having the same type of year, i see no reason last season cant be replicated or improved.

Not sure why people are upset about the off season the Flames are having. They haven't signed a single bad contract today, and I am pleased about that.

Great trade for both teams
Avs badly needed a 2nd line c, and leafs badly needed a rhd
Seems a bit more of a gamble for toronto, because Barrie and reilly will both need to get paid, and they barely have enough cap for 1
Avs have so much young defenseman they are set, and getting a legit 2nd line C makes them so much less reliant on the big line

I think Barrie's a big winner here. He could have a career season on that team heading into free agency.

Kadri is exactly what the Flames need? Does he shoot right? No? Then we already have a better player in Tkachuk.

One of the few affordable players that could fit in the cap (assuming salary was sent out as part of the trade)...and would have balanced the team nicely.
A little disappointed to be honest, even if I dislike him as a player.

I believe we dodged the bullet with not getting Kadri. Twice already I spoke about this before and got into arguments with people that did want him and with a Leafs' fan here, who really liked him. It was a bit puzzling that same posters who wanted Kadri vehemently argued against Evander Kane (when he could have been had for a song), who's very much like Kadri, but bigger, more aggressive and much more talented. I never liked Kadri's style of play, his unsportsmanlike attitude and his lack of discipline. A small, pesty centre, perennial 2nd-to-3rd line tweener. I would have hated excusing his tantrums just because he'd be on the Flames. Quite happy it didn't work out.

Good lord that is a horrendous deal.
All summer Avs fans have been tossing Kerfoot in deals and go to the trade thread on HF they are shredding his inability to play the other side of the puck.
