"Mr Trump is now focused on bringing jobs back to America (from those rapey Mexicans), taking care of our veterans (well, the white ones anyways, brown ones don't count because there mom's don't speak), introducing school choice (keep the white kids away from those others), rebuilding and making inner cities safe again (from "thugs")"

Trump makes more shifts in platform than the San Andreas fault does in a 10,000 years. He has no credibility.

He never had credibility, hasn't really mattered to this point. I saw a poll recently that had almost 20% of his own supporters saying he's not qualified. And they're still going to vote for him. That 5th Avenue quote might be the truest, most honest thing he's said all election.

Quote:
"Grove attendees know that Trump is a disaster," Powell wrote to MacKay. "Most will vote against, but quite a few will not vote for Hillary and will vote for a third-party candidate."

By Grove attendees Powell means, of course, wealthy, well-connected Republicans.

Protesters march toward the annual Bohemian Grove retreat in Monte Rio, Calif., on July 22, 2006. They opposed a plan to log coastal redwoods on a 2,700-acre grove owned by the Bohemian Club. (Associated Press)
Other Powell emails make similarly disparaging remarks about Trump. In one he refers to Trump as a "national disgrace" and an "international pariah." In still another he ridicules Trump for challenging where Barack Obama was born, and for taking African-Americans as idiots.

What makes the email to MacKay stand out is that it reinforces the view held by many that the billionaire Trump is exactly the political outsider he claims to be, that he's not a member of the political elite (the moneyed elite is a whole different issue) and will break the establishment's hold on Washington if elected.

This is an election where a great many Americans in both parties are going to vote against something they hate rather than for something they like.

Lol, it shouldn't be funny anymore when it's clearly so pathetic, but it still manages to be funny anyway

Or pretty much any election I have ever voted in.

Having to vote for a politician is like voting for what kind of knife you want to cut yourself with. Serrated stainless steal or rusting dull butter knife. Neither is much fun, but one is obviously preferable that the other.

Provincial, maybe. As far as the federal election goes, I generally haven't really had trouble finding a candidate I liked. Hell, the guy I voted for lost, but I liked the guy who won, too, so I wasn't much fussed about it.

Anyway, early voting starts in 8 days. Is it me or does it make no sense to hold early voting before there's been a debate?

Also, 538's nowcast currently shows a 43% chance Trump would win if the thing was held today. First time it's been higher for him than either of the polling-based estimates. Eep.

Media once again getting totally played by Trump with this sham presser/ad for Trump's DC hotel. I actually think that's big part of his support, that he's ####ing the media so badly and they're just taking it willingly.

Ha ha. He totally did that. Talked about how beautiful it was, really gorgeous, under budget and on time, tremendous. He also said it's an honour to be holding the first event in the hotel. It's such a nice hotel, I guess, that he's honoured to be the first one to use his own hotel.

Anyway, I wonder how many of his followers now think he's a reptilian for boldly saying that Obama was born in America.

People are still focusing on the dumb, awful #### that Trump does like they think it's going to matter. It obviously doesn't or we wouldn't even be in this situation. I legitimately feel like this constant barrage of "OMG LOOK WHAT HE DID" is actually hardening his support.

Clinton better get her #### in gear and people better start focusing on the positives of her platform if they want to change things. What they're doing is not working.

It wasn't about promoting the hotel. It was about promoting two key messages: I am a successful businessman who has actually built things here in America, and I employ normal Americans. He even gets a shot in for vets.

Quite a good move, I think.

Which is why today might actually end up totally backfiring for Trump. Remember it's the media who's been on their knees for Trump for a very long time now. A few days ago with Trump's childcare plan as a textbook example: he says Hillary has no plan, when in fact she has a much more detailed plan on her website than he does. Does the media call him out on that lie? Nope, they just let him perpetuate it. He's been allowed to get away with a staggering amount of lies that the media refuses to call him on.

But after today maybe they finally realize they are the suckers in the room. That they are the marks. And maybe they finally will show a spine and call him out on all his lies rather than just take them, and actually push him harder in interviews. No more Matt Lauering basically. Or maybe they'll cower again and prove they are Trump supporters favorite word: ####s.
