Lindley is having a solid camp so far as well. Not worried about corner as much as the safeties.

Players are just starting to understand what they are up against after this season as far as labor wars go...

Quote:
The union, in its filing, argues that the NFL's guaranteed $4 billion in television revenues combined with the elimination of $4.4 billion in player salaries would make 2011 a profitable season for the owners even if no football is played because of a lockout.

The league's television contracts for the 2011 season provide for the networks to pay the league even though there would be no games during a lockout. The union argues that this agreement was made to the detriment of the players and is, in fact, a weapon to be used against the players in the lockout.
And I love the reaction by Dominique Foxworth....

Well no kidding. Did he think the owners wouldnt set themselves up to make it through a prolomged work stoppage??? In what world does he live?

Looks like Vince Young was having a good time on Saturday night. A trip to the strippers isn't complete without a fight in the bathroom.

really shocking that Vince didnt do well on the wonderlic test, he seems like a real bright guy, kind of like Pac Man Jones... the NFL falls in love with these "athletic" QB's all the time, regardless that they arent smart enough to understand and think the game....

Well I mean the guy disrespected Texas, so he deserved it. That's actually how it's being reported by some Texas papers, hilarious.

Elvis Dumervil has signed his free agent tender, paving the way for a long term contract.

Haynesworth has formally asked for a trade.

Good luck. That contract is a total albatross. Washington would be smart to cut him and avoid any kind of cap hit before the new CBA comes in.

Actually he has recieved so much guaranteed money already from Washington, he might not be that difficult to trade... another solid big money signing by Washington... Snyder has to be one of the worst owners in the league.

Fair to assume that Haynesworths days as a Skin are over.

Quote:
"Albert made a very selfish decision," veteran linebacker London Fletcher said. "When you decide to play a team sport, you have to look at it and think about everybody involved in the situation. This is not golf, tennis, things like that, where it's an all-about-you sport. What he's decided to do is make a decision based on all-about-him.
"It's no different than his attitude and approach to last year's defense, about wanting everything to revolve around him and him making plays. And if it didn't benefit him, he wasn't really willing to do it
Yikes...those are pretty damning words.

Especially considering who they're coming from. I hate the Skins, but Fletcher is one of the classier guys in the league.

Vincent Jackson and Marcus McNeil did not sign their RFA tenders with the Chargers and may hold out for the first 10 weeks of the season.

Come to New New England (Denver) Logan. The transformation of our offensive line will be almost complete!

I REALLY do not understand why these players are doing this with the current labor situation. The Packers have 3 guys in the same boat with Tramon Williams, Atari Bigby and Johnny Jolly.

Quote:
The two players do not plan to report for the start of training camp and quite possibly well beyond, league sources have told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. The Union-Tribune is reporting that the two players plan to hold out until after Week 10 of the 2010 season unless they receive long-term deals or are traded.

Jackson and McNeill need to play six weeks to get credit for an accrued season.

As a result of not signing their tenders, the Chargers have cut McNeill's salary from $3.168 million to $583,000 and Jackson's salary from $3.268 million to $600,000
That is money NONE Of them will ever recover...ever.

They could also get injured and not get another contract ever again in their life. So rather than start all year and risk injury and not ever getting a long term deal. Although by signing the tenders they buy time to work out a long term deal.

I think a lot of these players failed to forsee just how tough owners were going to get in this next set of CBA negotiations. In Football that extra two years of restricted free agency really does take away two years where a player could have been paid. With 2011 having the uncertainty it does, a guy like Vincent Jackson could possibly be a 29 year old not having played for 2 years when he goes looking for his UFA deal. Whereas if he'd been UFA this season and there was aCBA going forward I think he would have been paid.

Actually, as surprising as it may seem, he is probably the most succusfull owner in the league. There was a list from a few years ago showing the most profitable sports franshises in the world. The Washington Redskins were the top of two NFL teams on the list with profits of over $80 million (the other was the Texans with profits around $50 million).

he has a license to print money with his franchise but the way they try to build the franchise with stupid signings like haynesworth and others and the constant hiring and firing of coaches is ridiculous. perhaps the signing of Shanahan will signal a new direction and the proper way to build..
