I think the Union carries a much larger stick now that they have someone who plays hardball at the helm. The power Goddell has onyl came because Upshaw wasnt strong enough to stop them.
Remember, labour peace in the NFL is soon to come to an end.
I think the suspensions are as follows:
Vick - 16 Games. (crazy amount for the crime, but the "public" outcry calls the shots on this one.
Stallworth - 8 Games.
Burress - 6 Games (less depending on his sentence).

The league announced Thursday afternoon that Stallworth has been suspended indefinitely without pay.
http://blogs.usatoday.com/thehuddle/...efinitely.html
Quote from Goodell's letter to Stallworth:
“There is no reasonable dispute that your continued eligibility for participation at this time would undermine the integrity of and public confidence in our league. Accordingly, I have decided to suspend you indefinitely, effective immediately. In due course, we will contact your representatives to schedule a meeting with you, after which I will make a final determination on discipline. Pending my final determination, you will not be permitted to visit the club’s facility or participate in any team activities.”

An indefinite suspension doesn't mean much in June. It's just a way for the league to demonstrate that they're doing something in the immediate aftermath of the case.

It will be interesting to see what eventually happens with Stallworth. He was drunk driving which is wrong, yet he hit a jaywalker so it wasn't 100% his fault. If he would have simply been pulled over and charged with drunk driving would he still be suspended indefinitely? Or is he only suspended because he was drunk driving and killed somebody?

That source said that Favre and the Vikings have indeed come to a contractual agreement, with heavy incentives. The Vikings equipment manager has already ordered number 4 purple jerseys with his name on it.

Sigh.....
Do I boycott? No.
Do I sulk and whine? Yes.
This is like Bertuzzi signing with the Flames only 1000 times worse.

Part of me is really excited to see that and I hope Packer fans are really pissed. Not only that, but Tavaris Jackson is not the future for QB of the Vikings. This just gives them a year or two more to go find that guy.

I can see where you are coming from with that....and from a football stand point it does address the team's biggest need.
But I just can't conceivably cheer for the guy....I can't....and I still feel like he'll hurt the team more than he will help it. But maybe that's because I am already completely against the whole thing...who knows.
Rumor is 2 year deal with almost $12 million guaranteed.

2 year deal with 12 guaranteed? Wow.
I am suspecting most of that is year 1 money. If its spread out over 2 that is a good deal IMO.
I hate Favre but my fav team plays in the AFC and the other team I casually cheer for is also in the AFC.

It could be a good thing. He has a good line and arguably the best back in the league. It reminds me of the Super Bowl teams of the Denver Broncos.

With a great defense and the best running back in the league, you'll be cheering for Favre outwardly by week 8!
If this happens, and he's healthy (which is the only reason it would happen), that team is a contender.

Really good point. Althought do you think Favre's ego will be able to shrink enough not to force that dumb pass to the sidelines that gets picked offto and brought back. Elway realized his role and embraced it for the most part. If Favre can do it, then they have a good shot. They are in the NFC so anything is possible, and if they get to the dance than one game decides it all.

If I do, someone please slap me. I'll cheer for the Williams Wall and that defense. I'll cheer for the Matt Birk-less offensive line, for Adrian Peterson and even for Percy Harvin and the receivers. But I'm unsure I'll have it in me to cheer for Favre.
(this is me putting up a front, as I will have to cheer for the purple and gold, and not the name on the back)

Don't worry Farve will give you at least as many reasons to dislike him as your QB as reasons to cheer for him this season.
And at the end of it all you will feel fine having hated the decision to bring him in.

So you're not going to watch any game until Week 5, is that what you are saying?

I don't understand this (the bolded part)?
I think the Vikings will not rely on Favre as much as the Jets tried to. Other than that, I guess it's a legitimate question that will only be answered on the field. They could use another good receiver....or a nice tight end.

That outwardly part was just me jabbing ya. I understand your dilemma. It'd be like Philip Rivers throwing on the blue and orange in the twilight of his career. YUCK@!

I would have said Greenway and crew....but I'm not entirely sure most people would know Mr. Greenway and his crew (EJ and Leber).
Or Winfield and crew? Winfield, Griffin, Johnson and Williams....wow, the Vikings are not all that strong at safety.

Packers extend Greg Jennings.
No brainer. Dude is the best young receiver in the game when you consider the total package. He's James Lofton. Money.
Brandon Marshall should watch the video on Jennings' comments today and learn from it.
