He played 7 less than Drais and they weren’t hurt at the same time . Is that what you are messing up ? So when McDavid was hurt and missed almost 1/4 of the season Drais won the MVp despite missing 11 games himself .

Maybe learn how to read stats before accusing people of exaggerating ?
So he played 7 games without McDavid, its the same point. And was on the ice for more goals against than for.

I've never seen a Flames fan work so hard to defend an Oiler player

He had 17 points in 5 games vs the Flames lol. Almost a 4PPG that might inflate the numbers, but he did light us up. How did we allow that.

Tanev hurt, Markstom poo, refs turning every scrum into a 4 on 4

I mean he is a great player so there is that component to consider. His numbers may be a bit inflated from the Flames series but he still has 108 playoff points in 74 games so he has consistently performed in the playoffs. Last year it is important to remember that he was injured in the Canucks series and his effectiveness was diminished as a result. He benefits from playing with McDavid but he still is an amazing player as well

I don't think anyone is suggesting he isn't a good player...taking victory laps before the contract has even started though is Oilery

Big player who has been injured quit a bit in recent years making 14M from 30-38 doesn't age well IMO.
Lucic was never at that level but he was a 60 point +30 power forward and turned into fouth liner within a couple years. Drai has a lot of miles on him already. If someone wants to bump to tell me
I toada so maybe wait a few years.

If he is a 100+ point player at 34-35 and the Oilers have a cup or two I guess you got me, otherwise nope.

Wait, you're inferring Jason14 isn't a Flames fan? That is R word. Seriously. What is with you, lol.

Yeah most hardcore Flames fans go out of their way to pump the Oilers

either way the take is poor, Drai and McDAvid played together all but 7 games...Drai didn't "win the MVP without him" maybe he is a Flames fan but he has had some incredibly negative takes lately.

The guy is an elite player and it's not debatable. He's having a fantastic season in the last year of his current deal and his big raise kicks in next season when he turns 30. Plenty of good seasons left but the returns will be diminishing with age. The Oilers issue is that he's almost 30 and the team hasn't won anything yet and the team is going to get older and worse on paper next season and seasons after while teams like the Avalanche and Stars have younger rosters and won't be going anywhere for a while.

I'm not sure why this is being brought up, maybe next year Oilers fans can bring this up if he is doing what he is doing this year. Even then it's not a steal and it's going to get worse.

Might make more sense to talk about the 3rd place team in a weak division and how it can't get better when his contract kicks in.

They have over $80 mil committed to 10 forwards, 4 d and 2 goalies and haven't signed Bouch Bomb yet.

Cap going way up, some very good teams are going to have way more cap than the Oilers.

LA - $30 mil space and nearly a full roster
Vegas - $22 mil space, need a few depth forwards, but after that they are full and could make a splash

Best case is 3rd again next year.

Fact: Oleg Saprykin has scored more goals in the Stanley Cup finals than Leon Draisaitl.

Oleg Saprykin has scored one goal in the Stanley Cup finals.

Oh, I'm sure they will. Just like they keep reminding people how they put the Flames into a rebuild even though not choking to the Oilers doesn't make Salem, New Jersey any closer to Calgary than it is.

His TOI was significantly smaller too!
