I can’t help but blame the FIA and the crappy way they manage races and the entire steward system for this mess.
How did the FIA not let Lewis know Max was gonna let him past? How did Max not get immediately reprimanded for not moving over and slowing down? How is it ok that a driver can slow down into a DRS zone so they can game the system and regain the place on the following straight?
Black and white flags should have been flown multiple times. Stewards should be the same group, or maybe rotating, the whole season and they should work directly with the FIA. Not this bull#### where it’s some random guys appointed by the local race organizers or whatever BS they follow.
Everything about this whole race was terrible, including the track and the awful country where it takes place.

I'd like to see how they handle the contact. Lewis didn't know max was letting him by and he let up and then they hit wheras if he knew max was giving the place back, he'd have just blown by. It was a clusterfata by race control only because it all happened so fast. IIRC, the TV had RB radioing Max to let him pass and then it happened a split second later.

Netflix tends to use a little bit of dramatization in their editing and production. I don’t even know how they do that this season. Not unless they portray max as a Bond villain or something.
Also, tied on points heading into the finale. Please Abu Dhabi, do not let us down. I pray those track changes help racing. Max, for the love of god don’t be the scumbag your father is and raised you to be. Just race cleanly to the finish. Let the only drama be the multitude of overtakes.
And incompetent race director, please don’t show me shots of random celebrities or fans when the championship winning overtake is happening, don’t show me a car leading by 20s while there’s a literal photo finish going on elsewhere, don’t show me a 4 minute replay on lap 2 of the race start while there’s still jockeying for position going on.

Lewis and his cynical SJW personal branding are so cringe. Boycott the race in Saudi if you feel strongly enough about it.
I also don’t understand how Lewis didn’t instinctively pass Max when he slowed down, middle of the track and a little swerve or not. When the driver in front is slowing, regardless of the reason, you pull out and pass. Max may have positioned himself poorly but there was still room.
I agree with Martin/Crofty that maybe Lewis thought there was another yellow or VSC and was momentarily confused.

That doesn’t explain why he hit max though. Sure, he wanted to stay behind for DRS but how would that distract him so much that he didn’t pay attention to his pace? Even with max swerving into the middle it seemed odd.
Especially since Max slowed down so much Lewis could have flown by. I’m not even sure if drs would have mattered.
Also, Damon Hill is just the worst. The guy is legitimately obsessed with Lewis and hostile to RB. He’s a joke of a broadcaster. Even the other pro-Lewis sky guys clearly find him cringey.
Messy. But I don't think F1 really minds the controversies.
Racing incidents between cars are always tough to assess, but the FIA manages to bungle objective rules like track limits or safety car following distances, which kicked this whole mess off today.
The finale will probably be as underwhelming as 2010 was. Good riddance to this design package.
Hilarious that Hamilton says he thinks Verstappen doesn't think the rules apply to him. Hamilton, the same guy who got penalized twice for taking out Albon, and was penalized at Silverstone. Both drivers have had their share of questionable driving, but Hamilton always comes out with this holier than thou attitude, how he tries to keep it clean etc. Two talented drivers who will BOTH stretch the boundaries if it aids their race.

Over the years, and especially this season, Hamilton has gotten very lucky. Every other driver blows up his front wing today, but Hamilton's horseshoe kept him out there.
At this point I hope both Max and Lewis DNF the next race
I’d like to see Max knock himself out, a la Schumacher in 97, and then have Lewis fight back from last in a damaged car which neuters his pace advantage and he barely sneaks home in 10th and win the championship.

Wow. One of the strangest races I've ever seen. Right from the F2 feature to the last lap of F1.
The track has potential but it's way too tight. Can't have the blind exits with cars going that fast.
Max went over the line at T1 repeatedly so deserved at least one penalty. The collision with Hamilton was just a crap show. Horrible team communication, serious gamesmanship with DRS zone, etc. There were so many VSC and SC that I can easily see HAM being confused on why VER was slowing so much. Max then tried to do it again but f'ing TSN cut away and it was hard to follow.
There's a reason HAM has won 7 titles...he plays the long game.
Need to almost watch it again to see everything. And as always a big FU to TSN and Bottas. He nipped Ocon at the line just like he did to Stroll a few years ago at Baku when he was driving for Williams.

Max got 10 second penalty for causing an accident. Determined he DID brake. Whole situation would have been avoided, had the gamesmanship over DRS not been there on both sides. But you can't brake check someone.
