I just got an email from The Locked Room and they're doing a fund raiser on May 10 from 6-10...they're going to donate and match all revenue from those hours. Glad I bought Xmas presents there this year. It's pretty damn fun.
Um so I contacted two local auction houses about doing a fund raising auction of sorts. One is vaguely interested but wants me to get a catalogue together. I think it would be good as I have some stuff I could part with but don't really want to do any more cash. And some people might just want to give a bit more if they get something in return. Could also sell tickets to the auction. Just thinking out loud but is there any interest in donating sports memorabilia, fine art, or antiques?
For the household inventory...would a slow walkthrough every room, closet, shelf etc with a videocamera be adequate? You could upload the file to a private Youtube account or the cloud and you are done.

I want to give a shout out to Shell, I just had a couple of Shell employees from the Fort in my office and Shell has been outstanding in helping both their Fort McMurray based employees and local evacuees in their facilities.

Progress continues to the SE, and due south of FM. Lots of "infilling" between all the arms. Lots of hotspots around FM still.
Spoiler!
An information alert has been issued for this area: http://www.emergencyalert.alberta.ca...6/05/3732.html
The fire was entirely in BC, and I had been watchnig it a bit earlier but it looks to have crossed the border. No immediate danger as their aren't any population centres nearby, but there are lots drilling in the area on the AB and BC side. Worth keeping an eye on...
The 1400 update had a ton of new Modis hits around the perimeter of the fire - wonder if thats new activity or smoke clearing up to be able to see things better.
I'm not sure the smoke would mask detection, as they use a thermal sensor that would either see through the smoke, or if it was hot enough, perhaps get a false positive off of it. Looking at the satellite images from earlier, I don't think the smoke is doing either though. It's tough to say without having access to the raw data and spending some time poking through it.
