Has Edwin taken any at bats this spring? I don't remember seeing or hearing his name yet. That is concerning were he's not even ready to start spring training. I know Gibby says he'll be fine for opening day, but I'm guessing we don't see him on the opening day roster based on this latest report.

Oh yeah, that's right - I do remember hearing about his tooth or something. Well, maybe I revise my thoughts then, I thought what was keeping him out now was a lingering issue from the beginning of Spring Training, but if its something separate, then maybe it's not so bad.
Just so hard to trust what the Jays say with respect to injuries, their timelines always seem WAY off.

Man, that bat flip thing is getting talkd about way too much. With that old geezer insulting Bautista last week and now Trout saying it disrespects pitchers, like c'mon.
The homerun won the series. It happened in the heat of the moment. With all that had happened in that inning, it was justified. It's not like he's flipping his bat after every homerun.
Now, I hope he does it again.

Sounds like a bunch of Don Cherry clones, it's getting tiresome. "A good Toronah boy wouldn't do that..." Shut up, already.

He hit the biggest home run in basically the last 20 years of the Franchise. For someone like me, that was the biggest home run of my life as a Blue Jays fan.
And I think most people forgot about the emotion that occurred in the lead-up to that moment too. Tie game and Russell hits Choo's bat on a toss back to the mound that scored the go-ahead run at the time for the Rangers. Then the Rangers commit 3 consecutive errors in the bottom half of the inning to load the bases. If you weren't running at 100% adrenaline at that point, you never will.

I don't like Bautista, but I'll remember the feeling I had from seeing that home run and bat flip until the day I die. One of those events that 20 years from now you'll be talking about where you were when it happened.
Mike Trout can go pound sand.

The bat flip was the pinnacle of the most exciting home-run, in the most exciting inning, in the most exciting game of the whole MLB season.
As far as I'm concerned if you don't love that bat flip you're either a fan of the Rangers (who I excuse) or you sold it to the devil and have no soul (which might explain where Trout got his talent, because damn is he ever amazing... even if his view of the bat flip is so very wrong).

First time watching the Jays in spring training today. Bautista with a big 3-run homer to take a lead 3-0. No bat flip though.
Aaron Sanchez looks like a starter. Not sure as to the reasons that the club wasn't grooming him that way in the first place. Kid is proving to be the real deal, and has the frame to back it up.

Not Jays-related, but am I the only one who thinks this kids in the clubhouse thing is ridiculous?
No, you don't get to make the rules and bring your kid to work whenever you want. You listen to what your employer says and respect their rules. Ridiculous.

You should see the interview with his wife from a couple of years ago. She basically says they don't value education and that's why they home school so that the kid can spend his day with Laroche because he'd learn more there.
Can't believe teams have put up with it for as long as they have. The friggen kid is 14 years old!

Sounds like he was told when signing his contract he would be allowed/had a hand shake agreement

Hard to argue about how poorly the Jays have developed Sanchez. Hopefully he spends the entire year at #5 this year and get the innings/experience he needs. Last Saturday against the Rays Buck Martinez spent the whole 4th inning crapping on how the Jays have mismanaged Sanchez. I've never heard Buck be that negative on anything Jays related in a long time.

No, I side with LaRoche here.
If he had an agreement with his employer (and it sounds like he did) that he could bring his kid to work and the employer reneged on that agreement then it's the employer that's being ridiculous.

I don't think the White Sox players are even that pissed about the new rule, I think they are pissed because Kenny Williams has told them 3 different stories and has went from pinning it on the owners to the coaches.
I'm some glad the Jays didn't get Kenny Williams back when those tampering allegations were going around last year.

I'm semi confused how the jays mismanaged Sanchez . They gave him a chance to start last year . He struggled . They moved him to a setup role and he helped them make the playoffs .
In the offseason he put on muscle and is trying to become a starter again . His secondary pitches may still not be good enough for a starter though

Pretty much what I was thinking. I get that maybe sticking him back in the minors to work on his game may have been smart, but he gained a lot of valuable experience last season. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how it unfolds this season.

He was looking good last year than he got hurt.
That said, the problem with Sanchez development is for the past 2 years they've used him in the bullpen to fill holes rather than acquiring someone to do that while letting him develop his pitches and stamina in the minors (or majors if he could run with it). You don't learn to be a starter in the bullpen. Need to develop 4 pitches to be an effective starter and build your stamina and game management. Pitching one inning out of the pen throwing nothing but heaters and the odd slider is not conducive to that.
Not once in his career has Sanchez been left somewhere for a full year to just take the ball and pitch as a starter. Maybe it won't matter and he turns out great (looks good in Florida), but concencus among the talking heads throughout the league is that the Jays mismanaged Sanchez's development.
