Speculation. Complete speculation.

But it will still turn into a truth to some on here.

not sure what your point is?

that tweet says Arnold is meeting up with some former BC teammates in Philly.

Hayes and his agent are in Boston listening to nhl offers

The only way we'll ever know if there's truth to speculation that he is looking for a guaranteed roster spot is if he signs with Edmonton.

Kids who have never played in the NHL and are expecting a guaranteed roster spot kind of tick me off. I am not a fan of the college free agent rule and don't think he is a fit under the current management philosophy of earn your way through to the flames.

Just fixing your post sureLoss. Can't say that happens very often. Ever?

I don't understand what this is all about. He was just posting a tweet from Bill Arnold, why are you asking what his point is?

Also, where are you getting that Hayes is in Boston right now? Last I read he was in Philly, which makes Arnold's tweet pretty interesting.

The problem with this is that it's pure conjecture supposing that he's only willing to sign with someone who guarantees him a roster spot. Happens all the time on this forum that a couple people allude to something and all of a sudden it's picked up as a fact with posts like this throwing out definitive judgements based on it.

There's a difference between looking at teams with more opportunity at a given position and saying you'll only sign there if you're promised a starting role on the big club.

Hayes is in Boston right now with his agent.

Are teams doing in person meetings with his agent without Hayes being present? What would be the point when they could do the same over the phone.

What's interesting about it? His tweet has nothing to do with the Flames, with Hayes, or with hockey.

tensions are high on here...

Hayes won't sign with the Flames.

- money the same everywhere
- will have to earn a spot on any team regardless of RW depth
- teams change every year, joining his team mates from college means nothing (i.e did he seek out a team where he could be reunited with his pee wee team mates? of course not)
-- team mates could fail to crack roster
-- team mates could be traded
- his home town team is contending for silverware and has the same sort of RW holes as other teams rumoured to be contenders for his services

therefore he will sign with the Bruins or another contending team
goal is to play for a winner, right?

Calgary is not a winner

You say this like it's a cut and dry fact but you have no idea what Hayes values and what he sees as being best for his career. Why did Stinktown win the Justin Schultz sweepstakes instead of Philly or Pittsburgh or Detroit or any number of contenders at the time that had holes to fill on the back end? We simply have no idea how the negotiations played out. And it's the same case here. You're making this issue way too black and white.

Well duh, you are right that he does not confide in me. Congrats for figuring that out on your own.

Have you figured out that this is a site where people share their opinions yet?

Quite possible if Calgary is one of the finalists, that he comes to Calgary for a tour. Not sure if he has had much opportunity to visit Calgary in the past.

Perhaps we can get strykersteve to stake out the Arrivals at YYC.

Worst-case scenario, the Flames still have the reigning Hobey Baker winner and some guy that's really good at two-way college hockey.

And Gillies.

Does Steve hang out on the west side of the airport, that's where Conny parks his plane!
