Marie-Phillipe Poulin scored the game-tying goal and OT winner in the gold medal game against the US at the Sochi Games. That said, if I had a vote, I would vote for Genie.

Me too. Her resume this year alone has solidified it for me, regardless of her result in the final. And it's a tough one, because Poulin's goal was unbelievable but I do believe Genie has the edge on the individual versus team sport aspect.
When Christine Sinclair won for her performance at the 2012 Olympics (hat trick versus US, bronze medal and first medal in a team sport at a Summer Olympics in close to a decade, Golden Boot at Olympics), the others up for the award were Patrick Chan, Jon Cornish and I believe Rosie MacLennan and it seemed more of a clear cut choice. Of course, that's just my opinion.

I wouldn't make this decision now. If she wins, then maybe.
I have an inherent bias but still don't forget Kaillie Humphries:
Back to back world cup champ
ionBack to back Olympic Gold
She was denied last year after back to back World Championships but my guess is because they were waiting for another Olympic result.
If anything one another wins each, depending on the result on Saturday.

It's weird to see tennis getting so much attention in Canada. Someone at work was talking about tennis today... had to do a double take.
Come on Milos tomorrow! Want to see two Canadian finals this weekend.

Yah, now that the initial World Cup fever has passed, everyone has become a tennis expert. But this is seriously great for Bouchard, Raonic, Pospisil and Wozniak, heck all Canadian tennis players. It is a real struggle to make it on tour, any exposure and endorsements this can lead them to is huge.

So as someone who hasn't followed Tennis at all, what time and what channel for the next matches for the two Canadian players?

Djokovic has gone AWOL. Djokovic lost 5 games in a row to lose the 2nd set.
We're in for a long one.

Dimitrov with a great recovery after that disasterous service game with 3 double faults in a row.
Pospisil and Sock meanwhile are in the final tomorrow. Pretty amazing run for them from both being out in the first round of singles to the final of doubles.

I think Bouchard's match starts at 7AM (2PM local), actually. BST is UTC+1, and we're UTC-6, so seven hour difference, not eight.

Yikes Dimitrov gave that tiebreak (and match) away. Milos should be up around 9:50.

Man, do I PVR Federer and Raonic and watch France - Germany or vice versa? It's truly a tough call.

dammit. I know I'm supposed to be rooting for Milos to advance, but I secretly wanted to see a final between two one handed backhand all court players. it would have been the closest to a classic Wimbledon championship that we'll ever get in the modern power baseline era.
well whoever makes it through next, hopefully Baby Fed took enough out of Nole for them to seal the deal.

I get that Djokovic doesn't feel appreciated by the crowd as much as Federer or Nadal, or that he doesn't like it when they cheer for longer matches, but he really shouldn't let it get to him like it does. If he faces Fed Sunday it could be an interesting afternoon of reactions.

Federer putting on a bit of lesson right now in terms of moving Raonic around the court and shot making.
Raonic confidence already seems to be shook.

Milos is gonna have a hard time getting any traction on the Federer serve, Fed is controlling the rallies. Milos pretty much cannot afford any breaks of serve, but one a set gives Fed the match.

McInroe really hates how Raonic plays eh? Hasn't said a good thing about him this match, just said no one in the crowd should be cheering for him cause he doesn't show emotion??
