Hey, EVERYONE embellishes a bit in hockey. But to me, there is a difference bwtn embellishment and diving. When a stick touches the chin, Couture will whiplash a couple of inches then continue playing. LOTS and LOTS of players do this. Thornton drew attention on a real slash by taking off the glove and shaking his hand... there WAS a slash, perhaps he embellished a bit...
DIVING is tumbleweed Kesler or Sedin being shot by a sniper in the crease - when you pretend that something happened when it did not - THAT is a dive. I wish the NHL would embrace the word 'diving' and remove the word 'embellishment' - and then do something about it.
All of this said, it seems to me that the high water mark (oh, was that a pun?) for VAN and diving was last year's LA series. In this series, it seems to me that VAN's diving is much less noticeable than 2011 and 2010.

Sadly enough, I think sometimes you need to embellish or else the refs won't call it. If I get hit in the face with a stick and it is a legitimate foul, then for sure I am making sure the ref sees it and my team get's a just powerplay.
The issue with Vancouver is that they would downright make stuff up and dive/head snap after nothing even happened or just causual incidental contact.

But just because everyone (which isn't true) embellishes doesn't mean it's right. Embellishing is just as bad as diving. It shouldn't exist in hockey. Man I miss 80's hockey.

I don't think he meant every single player
but every single team has players that do/have and will again

I would like to hear what Bieksa thinks of some true canadians on his team, Burrows and Lapierre, and if he would say the same thing about them. Would be actually interesting to know if he's been vocal in his own locker room about stuff like what Couture and Thornton did if it bothered him so much.
I know Willie Mitchell didn't hesitate to call out Kesler last playoffs in the Kings series, you have to think there's a contingent on that team that just detests what some of the players do on a game to game basis.

Surprised this hasn't been posted yet:
Farhan Lalji @FarhanLaljiTSN 1h
AV asked about Bieksa's comments, "We're the embelishers." #canucks

Relax AV haters... he was being sarcastic. Also its amusing that I haven't has a single tweep ask, "who's starting" since KB3s comments

You know, I knew something like that would be posted as soon as I posted the tweet, I was waiting for Farhan Lalji to explain it for the last hour and he just left the tweet like that, as soon as I post it on here he finally gives an explanation. Still a funny and true comment though.

Bieska is quickly overtaking Matt Cooke as the biggest pos in hockey.

ya I saw it and he waited an hour which is kind of strange, I was beginnign to think AV had finally turned and just gone full heel on the Canucks as some type of last ditch tactic

looking forward to the video someone makes, like the one about Julien's comments earlier this year, of Bieksa's comments interspersed with shots of 'supposed Canadians' on the Canucks roster embellishing
if it's not up tonight the internet disappoints me

Get off the ice Kevin, you're killing the team (hehe):
"Kevin Bieksa has been on the ice for each of the Sharks' last five even-strength goals in this series."

Has a coach ever quit a game before they know they are going to be fired?

All this shows is that Bieksa is completely off of his game, just like AV was really focused on the wrong thing when he was whining about the face off stuff.
Poor leadership on that team.
