Ocho Cinco didn't sit out. He didn't deliver ultimatums to try and force a trade. He asked for a trade then played the good little soldier and was eventually rewarded with the trade he requested.
So that door is still closed.

Jim Rome made an interesting statement that i think rings true.
he said "when you think about it Charles Woodson is there a football player with a better trophy case".
Michigan Big 10 Championship Ring
NCAA National Champoinship Ring
Big 10 Freshman of the year Award
Walter Camp Trophy
Chuck Bendarik Trophy
Bronco Nagurski Trophy
Jim Thorpe Trophy
Jack Tatum Trophy
Heismen Trophy
NFL Defensive Rookie of the year Oakland Raiders
NFL Defensive Player of the year Green Bay Packers
7 Time Pro Bowl 4 with the Raiders 3 with the Packers
Superbowl Championship Ring Green Bay Packers
I would say he has accomplished every single type of award he could!
Sure bet for the HOF.

What?
Of course he did...didnt get what he wanted, when he wanted it, but he most certainly demanded a trade. No he didnt sit out, but he threatened it quite clearly.
Quote:
"I want to make this very clear,'' Johnson said Wednesday. "I don't know where he got that. I made no assertion to Carson that I would do that. Nothing has changed from what I've been saying for three months that I don't want to play for the Bengals.''
"I want to be traded before the draft, and if that doesn't happen, I want to be traded as soon as possible,'' Johnson said. "I don't intend on reporting to anything.''
|
Palmer merely followed up on his threats whereas Chad the Diva wilted and caved to the $$ he knew he would never recover...on top of that Johnson also skipped all the OTA's that season in an effort to force Browns hands...which Brown never capitualted too, and why it is almost certain that Palmer wont get his wish either.

OK, so he did deliver threats, but he didn't follow through. Ocho eventually got his wish and Brown traded him.
Palmer has followed through. Therefore, this is a different situation.
You acknowledge Brown won't capitulate for Palmer. I agree.

I'll take Campbell ahead of Palmer. Campbell doesn't get enough credit for being a good game manager. He's not going to put up Brees or Rogers numbers but he's great in play action which helps the running game and makes key throws when needed. He's got an 11-7 record with a team that averaged 4 wins a seaon for 8 years. He's not the scrub you make him out to be as this is the first season in his career that he had he was working in the same offense as the year before and was well on his way to leading the Raiders to a 9 or 10 win season before the injury. Like Sylvanfan said Palmer today is closer to Elvis Grbac, or Trent Dilfer than he is the guy that started his career with the Bengals. I'll take Campbell over that.

I am torn at tonights game.
Do I cheer for Andrew Luck or do I cheer for a dolphins victory against the hate Jets?
I guess if we win its a good thing becase we beat our biggest rival. If we lose its not all bad, we are one step closer to Andrew Luck, but we have to battle the colts for that.

Just to add on to what others are saying about Palmer - I'd definitely have the guy start on my team, especially over a scrub like Jason Campbell.
I know I watched a number of Bengal's games last year and I can tell you the play calling was absolutely atrocious at times. Cincy had a great deal of 'talent' and the main reason why it didn't work well there was because they didn't have someone who could call plays effectively for that group.
I get that Bratkowski was there for a long time and has been the consistent figure with Palmer as the offensive coordinator, but there was a reason he was let go by the Bengals.

This game could get dull quick if this is how both offenses are going to play.

If the Dolphins could just execute in the red zone they would be way out in front. Jets do not look good at all. There is something missing with that team this year.

Shocking news Sparano is the worst coach in the NFL. He has no spine, he's a cheerleader out there that is all. He is useless. I am almost thinking Wannstedt is a better coach and I though Wannstedt was the worst ever.

As a Fish fan I'm on board with that. At this point the season is a write off, might as well go for the 1st pick. Why on earth did they pick up Reggie Bush, the guy is awful.

The Dolphins are so bad. I guess the question is when does Ross fire Saprano?

Well that was a waste of 3 hours I will never get back. I could see a coaching change coming before next week. Ireland will be gone after the season.
