I saw this earlier. I'm normally pretty onside with his reviews. I wouldn't call it "harsh". He definitely says there are some positive there too.
His review does make me kind of question why Marvel would shoehorn CM in so close to Endgame though. Once again, I really hope they aren't setting CM up for a major role in this movie. It would be fine if they leave her at the end, as kind of the next guard. However if taking Thanos down relies too heavily on her, that would be a huge misstep by Marvel.
I am ok with them trying something completely different, I have a lot of faith/trust in Gunn. He will do right by those characters.
In other news, Disney has announced that ALL of it's movies will be available on the new streaming device, no more Disney vault.. or I guess it exists accessible to all now!

Say goodbye to the infamous Disney Vault. The Disney+ streaming service is going to make all your favorite Disney movies available all the time.
Disney CEO Bob Iger explained the new tactic during an investors’ call on Thursday, according to Polygon. Iger said that shortly after the service launches, “the entire Disney motion picture library” will be added to Disney+, effectively doing away with the company’s longstanding tradition of only releasing their classic films at sporadic intervals.
All Marvel/SW movies will be available on the streaming platform within a year of their release.

I wonder if Disney+ is going to screw over the physical media collectors such as myself. I can see Disney doing away with home video releases forcing people to get Disney+

Honestly man it was just a matter of time. The scales have been tipping towards digital content for decades. The new generations don't care about physical collections besides the odd few, that will die with our generation.

The Suicide Squad is supposed to be a group of oddball nobodies, that are largely disposable. Part of the fun is supposed to be seeing ridiculous characters getting killed off in ridiculous ways.
Not sure if this was posted, and will likely get lost in the Captain Marvel hoopla, but I just saw this on YT, and it looks amazing. I'm a huge manga/anime geek, so this tickles me in all the right places.

I think this combined with Gunn directing will make it a good movie.
I turned off Suicide Squad about 10-15 minutes in, but James Gunn being handed the reigns makes me more excited about SS2 than I am about GotG3.
It was quite bad, wasn't it?
It's kinda funny, Will Smith has been in two of the worst movies I've ever seen along side two of the ones I've really enjoyed. He's been on both ends of the spectrum.

Will Smith has a long repertoire of just awful movies, and some good ones too.
He has a pretty good sense of humour about it though:

Here are my Captain Marvel thoughts after seeing it last night. Caution Spoilers ahead. Non-Spoiler thoughts I give the film a 6.5/10

It was okay/good but not great. I felt the beginning was kinda confusing and jumping all over the place. Brie Larson as CM is good and I'm excited to see more of her in Avengers End Game. The CGI was not good like at all, some of the worst in such a huge blockbuster. They spent their entire CGI budget on Sam Jackson. He was great in the movie as per usual. The fight scenes were hit or miss. The end battle in space was really cool and got to see her powers. The villain switch was interesting. I thought Jude Law played a totally forgettable villain and the Skrulls being the good guys i kinda liked. The only bad thing about that is now they can't do secret invasion which is where I thought they would go with Phase 4 after Thanos. Ronan also felt wasted, he was barely in it and then he just sat there and did nothing. Still enjoyed it just not as much as other recent MCU films like BP and IW. To me this is more Ant-Man and the Wasp or Guardians 2 territory .
