What is it about Avenida market? They seem to host or draw a lot of this weirdness and the tba clown meetings.

As much drugs that Theo has done to obliterate his brain and as many times that he has been knocked in the head there are actually a few regular nutjobs out there who think the same way. They're also detached from reality and completely loopy with the paranoid conspiracy garbage.
It's a small sliver of our population who are susceptible to this lunacy and I honestly think you cannot reason with them. It's really sad and frustrating.

Hardly shameful at all. Theo was a beloved Flame, a fan favorite and a big part of the organization. No one knew what was in store for him post retirement or what his life would become. I feel no shame in celebrating his on ice success and achievement with the Flames.

That is fine, but we don't need him around alumni, its embarrassing having that nut job around. He is most likely spreading his garbage around the guys as well.
As much as its about celebrating on ice things, it celebrating the person and the person is a piece of trash.

There is definitely a line between on-ice Theo and... what we have now. He is still an important part of the club's history, though the Theo highlights aren't quite as enjoyable to me now that I have seen what he has become.
A family member often suggests that Theo's #14 should be retired based on his on-ice accomplishments alone. I disagree, and think that the Flames are wisely keeping their distance from him, and I hope that they never platform him by retiring his jersey (or formally honouring him in any capacity).
His brand is toxic, and the off-ice stuff matters. There is no benefit to the Flames brand that can come from Theo at this point.

He is, I was in line with him when he got the jab. He had a mask on, so I think he was trying to hide his face. The cute little coward!

I don't disagree. He has become a toxic and polarizing figure now. But that doesn't mean that his history and time with the Flames should be considered shameful as suggested by Ferarri. During his time with the Flames he was a pretty typical NHL'er and not someone that was troublesome. Sure he had some off ice indulgences that were not ideal by today's standard but at the time it was pretty common to have a party filled lifestyle.

I'm all for retiring it posthumously.
He was one of my absolute favourites growing up. When the basement bar is finished there won't be anything of his on display.
All the Fleury stuff that will be hung up will be Marc-André.

we need a new top end player to take over that number.
I'm joking about Tij but an upcoming 1st rounder needs to get it. Time to move on.

Meh. If he would've raised a cup, sure.
I'm ok forgetting about his existence on this team into the future

I think they have to wait for the right player to take that number. Somebody who can put up with all the negativity that Fleury and his following would direct towards the Flames. He still has a lot of fans and probably most of them don't even know about what Fleury is doing on his social media accounts.

You can't erase his on ice tenure with the Flames and I certainly have no problem acknowledging him as a player and his stellar play. However, moving forward the Flames in no way should be associated with him and his brand. As a public figure representing a pro sports organization, there comes with a certain conduct. He is free to spread his views, but the Flames can also move forward without recognizing him in any manner. It's like a bad breakup. Move forward and focus on the future.

It's an interesting question.
He was a hard guy not to like during his Flames tenure. Do post-career antics/idiocy retroactively negate all of that?
I don't think the jersey should be retired just because it gives today Theo a bigger platform and more attention he doesn't deserve, but I think it's fine to look back and like the player.
It wouldn't surprise me if the guy has some maladaptive psychological conditons that are going unaddressed. Trauma can sometimes turn people kind of "rabid" if they don't have the help they need. Doesn't help when they surround themselves with similarly troubled people who essentially rally around delusions bases on their shared irrational fear/anger.

But you said that it is shameful that he ever wore the jersey which means that you do have a problem acknowledging him as a player and his on ice performance.
