Does Brodie have an NTC? If he has recently been asked to wave it, then it could explain the last week or so of average play.
Look at him when scoring the goal yesterday. It was a junk bounce but he was not as happy as his teammates were, as very rudimentary analysis that is.

Yeah I'd do that!! Hells yes! Term for term trade. Key to moving Brodie is the organization has full confidence in Andersson. If this rumor pans out, I think it is safe to say Andersson has won them over.

I’m pretty sure they’re only looking at depth for the playoffs so term is a negative for them right now. Makes the acquisition cost less.
Summer is for team building. I’ve heard Treliving say it a dozen times.

That sounds like an offseason trade more than a trade deadline trade.
When everyone knows that you need plenty of Dmen and experience for the playoffs, why trade your top pairing Dman and one of the more experienced playoff Dmen on the roster?
I suppose anything is possible, but that sounds like a stretch to me.

Not that it addresses your point - but maybe a few other pieces are involved, like McQuaid (I hope not) or Zuccarrello??

Because I'm not too familiar, is Krieder worth acquiring? What does he bring to the table?

What's wrong with Kreider?? Hes perfect for this roster going into the playoffs. He bangs, he scores and he is fast. And hes a good team guy.
We may be over valuing Brodie a bit here. Hes definitely a top 4 d man, his skillset tells us that. But I don't know if many teams see him as a top pairing d man.

Speed, physicality and he’s a big body.

He's basically Ferland. Fast, physical, skilled second liner.
I like him quite a bit.
But I wouldn't trade Brodie for him. Unless DeAngelo and Zucc were both part of the return and we dump Neal in the mix.

But a natural LW. Not sure he is exactly what we need.

Re: Kreider
Doesn't make sense to me that we would bring in a top 6 LW with our current depth at that position. I'm sure he can play RW but why force it? Makes even less sense to move brodie in said deal without getting an experienced d-man back.

A real hockey trade? That would be very interesting. Kreider would be a really strong fit, and would allow us to keep all our young D. You'd move Tkachuk to RW, I suppose.

Answering my own question, Brodie has an modified NTC of 8 teams.
Sure it may be Kreider but my guess is Hayes or Zuccarello (or all 3!?) would be part of the package.
Both Kreider and Brodie have a year left each, and contract $ are almost identical, so not sure the lateral move or to disrupt the Flames room with a move, even if it's part of something bigger, Kreider and Brodie could be left out without affecting the balance of a trade.

FWIW McKenzie said earlier this month that for the Rangers to even consider moving Kreider they would want a foundational building block young player that is close to playing in the NHL.
With that in mind seems more like Valimaki than Brodie.

This would be quite good. Kreider adds a lot and we were okay when Brodie was out or moved down.
