I was worried about using hoppy beer in chili a few months ago and it wasn't bad at all. Hoppy flavor kinda mellowed out and jived with the spices. An inexpensive light beer for beer batter is always great too.
I haven't tried, but someone looked at me with the most incredulous look of disappointment when he asked if I'd ever tried experimenting with dark beer in a gravy mix (I said I had not tried that yet). A dark ale/porter gravy added to Shepard's pie sounds awesome. I'll give him that.

This in Stews, Red Chili, Shepard's Pie is awesome:
Also on toast, especially Sour Dough.
And in a Sandwich with Sharp Cheddar, like real sharp.

100%. When it's 95 degrees and humid and I'm at the ball game, I'm getting a jumbo Miller Lite.

What’s better? Bud Light? I’m sure the difference is remarkable.

Corona makes one. It tastes pretty close to the original and it’s hard to notice a difference at all with a lime.

If non-alcoholic beers grind your gears, you’re in the right place.

This isn't a 'both sides' thing. In my experience there's easily 5x more people who make craft beer choice / preference a vector to look down on other people or to distinguish their personality for external validation purposes compared to people who drink macro for similar reasons.

no thanks.
Why would I pay beer prices to drink pretend beer?
I'd rather just have a glass of tap water.

This is the correct response to non-alcoholic beers.
They are all useless foreplay with no penetration

Oh you know, just alcoholism or other health issues. Or just, any reason that someone likes the taste of beer (like I do) but don’t handle alcohol well (like I don’t). You types are always a blast at events, much more fun than the “craft beer snobs” who don’t let people drink what they want…..

Yeah, lots of reasons for folks to drink non-alcoholic beer, whether it's health, lifestyle, etc. Weird thing to have strong opinions about.

My point is that obnoxiousness of the Bud Light lover stands out just as much as obscure beer zealot, regardless of whether there are more or less of any particular camp.

I just don't get paying beer price for fake beer that 49 times out of 50 tastes nothing like beer.
I don't think it's weird to have an opinion on it.

In cooked foods, I could see that. Basically concentrated stuff from beer with slight differences.
I didn't mind the flavor on bread, but I didn't like the texture though.

I personally wouldn't drink zero alcohol beer, but that's me. But for other instances where you can't alcohol (ie: Pregnancy and certain medications) it helps the person not feel out of place if everyone else is drinking, but better yet, it makes a passable shandy.

People who a) pick ungodly hours to depart/arrive on flights to save a couple bucks, and b) expect me (or another 9-to-5er) to pick them up.
I swear I'm the only person in my family who regularly takes themselves to the airport, either by doing Park & Jet, or calling an Uber. It's really not that hard, or as expensive as they're thinking. Especially if you're already buying plane tickets and going on a trip.

Our standard is the golden rule. I'll pick-up / drop-off if the other person reciprocates. I will say the drop-off is very valuable in terms of lowering my stress levels on getting to the plane, so it's worth the trade off of doing airport runs for others.
