Chemistry is a strange thing.

Not to mention they lost one of their best relief pitchers before the season even started (Casey Janssen), they also lost Aaron Hill, and Vernon was hurt for a big part of the season.......

However on the positive side, I really like what Cito has done.........

My guess is the Red Sox will win the division.... Tampa have a pile of games on the road and could be in trouble....

Colorado's run last year isn't helping the false hope either...

Jays are out of it for sure (just way to many games behind), but they sure can cause problems for the teams that are chasing a spot......

Boston isn't the team you want to be chasing in September; they're really hard to make up ground on. To make up those 8 games on Boston, the most realistic scenario I can see is:

Toronto (76) vs.
Boston: 6-1
Chicago: 3-1
Baltimore: 5-1
New York: 2-1
Total: 93

Boston (84) vs.
Toronto: 1-6
Cleveland: 3-1
Tampa Bay: 3-3
New York: 1-2
Total: 93

Most realistic scenario to catch TB:
Toronto (76) vs.
Boston: 4-3
Chicago: 3-1
Baltimore: 5-1
New York: 2-1
Total: 91

TB (85) vs.
Baltimore: 2-2
Detroit: 2-2
Boston: 1-5
New York: 1-2
Total: 91

I'm not sure which of those scenarios is less likely. Both are fairly improbable, but I suspect that the Boston scenario is more likely. (By which I mean, maybe a 3% chance of happening, rather than a 1% chance.)

Yeah, the Jays best hope would be that Tampa Bay or Boston essentially sweeps the other team in those series. Ideally it would be Tampa doing the sweeping since the Jays have the 7 head to head games left with Boston. But the more likely scenario probalby see's Boston beating up on Tampa. All Toronto can do is hope to post a 16-4 finish or better and see where that gets them.

There will also now be two doubleheaders this week meaning some pitchers will have to go on short rest.

Wow, another great start for the Jays as Burnet goes 7 innings allowing only a single hit and a single run. Jays take game one of the double header 3-1. This team has been getting some kind of pitching lately.

They've been getting that kind of pitching pretty much all season.

10 straight. The right guy is on the mound to make it 11 straight tomorrow night as well.

Too bad this run couldn't have happened at the beginning of August. I am afraid it's way too late.

Even if we win out Boston/T-Bay would have to go 11-7/10-9, to force a tie scenario.

Which would be rough. Never mind if we win out Boston would have to win there other 11, as there is 7 against us.

A Sweep this week-end against the BoSox and this could be real interesting.

The Bosox got T-Bay right after TO and then back against TO. Basically our only chance is to catch Boston.
