Oilers broadcasters always fail to understand that penalties are given as punishment for breaking the rules, and not that powerplays are given as a reward. They honestly believe that having sustained offensive zone time should materialize in a powerplay regardless of whether other team is playing disciplined, and that if they are down, they should be give leeway.

Evander Kane was so bad tonight. I do not understand gifting him a top 6 role, in which he treated every puck like a grenade, while sitting Jeff Skinner who was one of few heart-and-soul players in game 1. Keep trusting the process I guess. Maybe a decade or 2 more will do it.

I'm trying to temper my excitement as the Kings still have lots of work to do. But this sure is a heck of a lot of fun right now. Just remember. The Oilers are only in the playoffs because of their insane 3on3 record this season. That team has been mediocre at best this season. With the aging roster and mcdrai showing their wear and tear. The window could be slamming shut pretty quickly. Just look at the penguins with Malkin and Crosby and what an aging team with old stars looks like. Only difference is they have 3 cups.

Love the result when the spotlight gets put on how much the oilers get away with in order to be competitive, and they have to stop. Happened last year as well when they finally started calling Hyman on his goalie interference and pick plays in the slot.
