I expected the rural results and those people in South Alberta, but I really hoped more of you Calgary people would be against the UCP. so many no goods.

Edmonton did their part, especially by getting rid of Kaycee Madu

god dammit. The lower income people and financially struggling people are so screwed.

Lol when’s the party Yoho? Atleast we’ll have an official representative from within Smith’s circle on this board.

I have some concerns, would you mind relaying them to dear leader?

You shouldn't just ignore the past when it isn't convenient for you. Smith has decades worth of inflammatory statements how you feel it is okay to just say that it is fluff is beyond me. What better way do we have of judging someone than if not on their own words and actions.

Look I will never change your views but I do hope that you have actually had some form of critical insight over the past few months and have thought about things a bit more than you have let on here.
I liked the significant decrease in response times with paramedics that no one seems to give her credit for.

I guess it is now time for all of us to admit that Edmonton is actually in fact far better than Calgary.

I can’t believe you actually love Danielle Smith. I could actually respect you a bit if you rejected her…but seriously man, you truly don’t see her for the egotistical deplorable she is?

When it comes to politics, damn right.

But for those of you who really do hate Edmonton to the point that you really don't care what happens to us as people, the UCP will financially punish us for our NDP support. I have no doubt about that.

So I had a lawn sign for the first time. what happens to it? does the party come around and collect them, or do I remove it myself.

Because it had nothing to do with her, that's all from a program the pre-dates her leadership

Your issues are your issues important to you.

I just want the best person in charge to look after Albertans interest when it comes to dealing with with the Feds.

I’m impressed with how much of a pitbull Smith can be when it comes to dealing with Trudeau.

Notley ain’t it.

Nice try no.

She changed it in a heart beat.

I’ve talked to paramedics she deserves the credit.

Pitbull how? What has it got for Albertans? What will it get us going forward?

This idea that a. Smith will stand up to the Feds more than Notley or that Notley is a lap dog of Trudeau is just empty words with no examples and b. the idea that standing up to the Feds is an important issue is once again just empty words with no examples of how it helps Albertans.

Because all it did was shuffle the problem from the paramedics to the ER. Do you think these patients magically skipped the ER? No. Instead of paramedics taking care of of them, they get dumped in hallways without attention. So sure, ambulance wait times are down, ER wait times are up. Nice fix.

Quote:
The doctors also point to a lack of beds and critical labour shortages at hospitals, stating “signs of a capacity crisis are everywhere.” They noted wait times have skyrocketed, with some waiting up to 15 hours to see a doctor in the ER.

“These patients often become sicker while waiting. We worry about these patients every shift,” they wrote. “It is now common to have 40 to 50 people waiting to be seen by a doctor at any given time in any of our emergency waiting rooms. Frail, elderly patients languish on stretchers in hospital hallways. Patients with mental-health crises are housed in the emergency room, often for several days, while awaiting in-patient beds.”

I'm really worried about losing mine. They have already cut back hours for lifestyle reasons. Whatever happens, we can be assured healthcare is going to get much worse.

lol, what? All the AHS changes are from a report released over a year ago, all Smith did is continue what was already happening. Stuff like the Metro Response Plan and Pre-Empt and Divert were all introduced in early 2022.

Actually I guess you are half right, she did change some of it in a heart beat. She took a bunch of the recommendations and just made them slightly worse. Now instead of simply creating a separate program for inter facility transfers like the panel suggested, they're opening a competition for private ambulances to do the transfers instead. Yay, more privatization! Because that's worked so well for other public services right? Such as..............

You guys fight this one out I’m going to be sipping on champagne enjoying this one for a bit.

I signed up for it by posting in the thread but this was a very messy ugly campaign.

You were all worthy adversaries.

She did end up voting (presumably for the NDP), but only because the polling station is right behind our house. Brown thinks the NDP's relentless focus on Smith's competence and trustworthiness backfired.

She thinks many Alberta voters got turned off by the negative tone of the campaign.

"I think by focusing so much on Smith, [the NDP] gave people a reason to doubt Smith and her competence as leader, but they didn't do enough to give people an affirmative reason to vote for the NDP," said Brown.

Longtime Alberta political watcher Duane Bratt echoes Brown, stressing that the NDP's attack ads likely overwhelmed voters.

"It's been a very negative campaign," said the political scientist with Mount Royal University's economics, justice, and policy studies department.

I’m not exactly sure why the word ‘adversaries’ was used, considering we’re all Albertans and want the best for the province. But you do you..

Forgot to mention, congrats to TBA on their upcoming mandate in the Legislature. I'm sure they'll govern down the middle - centrist, fair, and representing all Albertans.
