I heard the interview too.
And
He offered it up more like he has a big story to tell about the team at a crossroads coming up, but he will wait to write it.
And
I immediately thought, if it’s too sensitive to say now why say anything?
That was my question

The Flames are horrid in overtime, they lose every game because of some stupid defensive mistake and have probably been told 20 times to not get caught behind the net. The players continue to make the same mistake and after every loss the coach gets #### on, so why shouldn't he lose it?
Just a question as you usually have excellent answers.

Because today’s young players don’t respond to that. He’s supposed to bring them a cupcake and explain the mistake in a tik tok video while flossing.

Listened to the Francis clip and the thing that I'm stuck on is he said very confidently that not a single player in there likes playing for Sutter but then conveniently, the video of Toffoli came out today saying that Sutter is his favorite coach lol. Probably just Francis exaggerating or misspeaking in the moment, but I do think it's pretty funny.

I have no issue if Sutter has justifiable anger about the shortcomings of his team.
But if you're the leader you don't do that in front of them and you don't do it to send a message. It's not going to have the desired effect. Go rant and rave to Treliving about the ineptitude of the roster he assembled. Remember that old line from Saving Private Ryan? Gripes go up the chain, never down.

If the team ends up winning, I couldn't give a flying #### what method he uses to get them there. Whatever he needs to do to reach them is exactly the right thing to do. Time to dust off the ol' cowboy boots Darryl, you're going to be learning to floss.

If only he’d just have Chris Sutter flossing in the locker room while they all took selfies and went through their game plan by Instagram story of bristle board signs a la the guy to Keira Knightly in Love Actually.

It got them close last year. So which is it?

If you're firing Sutter, you're only firing him to hire a nicer guy behind the bench. You're sure as hell not replacing him with a better coach.

I agree with this 100%, but Sutter is the topic, and when has anyone seen him have an angry outburst or yell at anyone?
I guess you hear stories but if there is a real knock in Sutter, I'd say it's his psychological approach that would be in question.

If there's any truth to what Francis is saying, it's almost certainly that Treliving is moving on. Can't see Edwards firing Sutter before his extension even kicks in.

This is a tough one for me. I like Tre for the most part and think he’s done a good job (certainly some moves that didn’t pan out, but no different than other GM’s). Appreciated the fact that he always tried to improve the team and had a reputation for being one of, if not the hardest working GM. Maybe change is needed but it’s also Francis so who knows…

I'd rather see Sutter leave than Treliving. And I've been a Sutter fan until recently.

is that Bednar and Cooper do?
Bednar and Cooper are relevant NHL Head Coaches. They’re Champions in recent years.

Francis was just dancing around it during the intermission but I’d have to say it seems like Sutter is the one to go based on what he had to say.

More "smoke" "it'll be a story to come out in the offseason" from Francis in the intermission all directly related to Kadri/Sutter.
I'm thinking Kadri is the one that was saying he's not coming back if Sutter stays. Let's see how this plays out.

If you're expecting your players to walk the tightrope of playing with poise and supreme intensity while maintaining enough discipline to not take dumb penalties or make the wrong 'effort' play (eg. ill-timed pinch), I don't think it's too much to expect the guy behind the bench to demonstrate some poise himself.
There are different buttons to push at different times, but I struggle to see how the coach smashing stuff would be remotely effective. Going on a fair/accurate/reasonable rant every now and then makes sense, but that sure as hell can't be the only note you play.

Kadri doesn’t have much of a choice. Can’t believe the Flames would be able to trade him for anything close to what they would want and unless Kadri wants to stay home and not get paid, he’s not going anywhere.
Sutter on the other hand is 64 and had already once retired.

I wonder if Colorado would trade for Kadri back.....

So what does Sutter's 7 game series breakdown look like over this season?
Just curious.
