I wonder how true that is for a short tournament like this? And didn't this happen in June - like 6 months after the team had essentially disbanded?

It’s probably going to be guys that were familiar with each other to go that far with something. Doubt that bond is generated from a golf tourney or training camp. Guess it did happen post Tournament?
But who knows. Guess we’ll find out in the next month or two.

Oh I'm sure there will be a bombshell dropped in the next week or so. Too many people in the know to keep a lid on it.

Things are heating up. Charges on the 5 might be coming soon.

And the Nike employee that was giving the victim drinks and telling her to take care of player 1 has scrubbed all of his social media. He is a director of sports marketing with the company.

Players from Canada’s 2018 World Junior team will not be allowed to play for the national team until an investigation of an alleged group sexual assault is completed, Hockey Canada told TSN in a statement on Monday.
“Earlier this year, Hockey Canada made a decision that until the investigation and adjudicative process of the alleged incident in 2018 are complete, no players from the 2018 National Junior Team will be considered for participation for Team Canada,” a Hockey Canada spokesman wrote in a statement. “This has been communicated to the management group for Team Canada at the 2023 IIHF Men’s World Championship.”

I would think Rob Thomas, Kyrou, and Batherson would otherwise be selected.
Probably Dube and Carter Hart, too. Then maybe a few other guys if their teams get bounced in Rd 1

I didn't think Dube was ever ruled out of attending the event?

He wasn't. I don't recall who was/wasn't. I'm just saying who are likely to be selected - ie. the good players on non-playoff teams.

What are you guys debating, it says flat out NO players from that team can participate till this is sorted out.

Honestly #### Hockey Canada for that decision too. They know who was accused at this point, blaming the entire team so they don’t have to be the first to release the names and make a determination is a joke. Imagine being out of a country when a crime occurred and now you can’t perform for the national team because you have some cowards at top.

You’re not wrong but if some guys lawyered up or may not be completely truthful (ie: willlful ignorance) they may not be getting the participation they want. So while some guys may be getting shafted, it’s probably more indicative of how the investigation is going to this point. It’s not a great approach but what approach is?

Had an idea!

IMO, this garbage does more to damage the game than players not participating in Pride events, and I sure don't see the media up in arms over it.
And where are all the NHL higher ups? Nevermind the players.
In fact one could make a strong argument that the old boys club at TSN who have been covering World Juniors for literally decades sure have been quiet about it all. Also took them forever to admit something was going on.
Without Rick Westhead literally beating down doors on this story, who knows if it ever would have come to light.
And I'm sure we agree that this is systemic already, and considering the stories we have heard about what goes on in locker rooms, hazing events, etc....how is the NHL so quiet about this? It should be easy to understand how all this #### does nothing to encourage more people to play hockey, or more parents to get their kids into minor hockey.
Pathetic.

Yeah, wasn't Makar definitely ruled out of being a part of this?
Saw a headline last night that said "Makar, rest of 2018 Jr Team ruled out of Olympics, Championships".
Like this singled out his name. That's greasy.

I'm saying who would have otherwise been taken. ie. who may be 'punished' by this draconian decision (if they were not one of the 6)

I agree it is very greasy, but he is also far and away the most impactful potential loss to Team Canada.
The people responsible should be brought to hard justice. No more protecting, no more keeping quiet. Name the names that were in that room. Separate them from the rest of the team. It's long past due.

I don’t mind it. Maybe this puts some pressure on players to cooperate more. Makar wouldn’t be playing World Cup this year anyways

I'm more shocked they haven't completed this investigation. There must be some holdouts/holdups. By saying none can go to WC's it comes off as them using leverage they have at disposal to get more info from players maybe.
