Unreal move by Vegas. Its going to hurt even more when they win the cup a few times in the next 5 years.

Its going to suck. Mark my words. You'll look back on this beatable package with disdain.
Hopefully so will Edwards, before he sends Treliving packing.

As I said in the other thread, I'm ashamed of fall 2021 me.
Mark the words with crayons and fingerprint paint because they were ridicule worthy.
That said though, we'll still have to see how JE plays moving forward.

Hey, I was wrong about Kylington don't sweat it...at least you admit it unlike some posters
I really don't think Eichel is ever gonna be a 10M player though

That is the exchange so far. They still need to dump salary to fit him in next year. Whether it is Smith, Lehner or someone else they are going to lose an important player for them.
I suspect that they are still a decent team next year with a healthy group of veterans. It does seem like the shine has worn off their roster and they’ve no young players to back fill the lower roster positions.

I never understood the desire to dismantle the team (any team) to acquire an above average, but certainly not game-changing player. I've just never seen it with Eichel.
I was firmly in the no for the Flames camp all along. I'd look for my posts, but I'm too lazy
Happy that this blew up in the NHL's spoiled little brat team.

Eichel, coming back from major neck surgery, has zero training camp and has only played 33 games this season.
This is not the year to be judging Eichel.

Vegas would have made the playoffs if they kept Tuch and Krebs.

I didn’t mind Vegas having a good start to their franchise. It was good for the NHL to not have the Vegas experiment fail. It was a fun story when it was a bunch of cast offs, especially since it never really impacted the Flames level of success. Agree with the poster above who mentioned how they’ve turned that group into a bunch of entitle mercs. Happy to see them drown under their easily foreseeable cap catastrophe. Especially now that the Flames are good and would have to go through them if they were better.

The media hype leading up to this trade had me full-on believing it was happening for Calgary. Kevin Weekes' tweet saying it was a done deal for the Flames had me pretty hopeful. Then the let down happened when the actual trade details came out. Pretty disappointed we didn't get him. But that was then.....this is now.
As Flames fans I think we all want the same thing, and that is for the Flames to win. I don't care who steps up or what trade was key, I just want them to win.
Seems a little immature to repost/quote someone's comment from the off season. Fans were only asking for improvement after the horrible years of mediocracy. I'd rather be bottom of the league, having better draft potential, then being a perennial 16th place finisher. I personally was hoping for a full rebuild. Thank Jeebus that didn't happen.
Someone even bumped the "Brad Treliving needs to go" thread yesterday too. Why don't we just appreciate what is happening in front of us and not try to create negativity so we can feel slightly better about ourselves? So you were right about something. Who cares?
Best.Season.Ever. I don't care how wrong I was about this core in the Summer.

TBF the bumper wanted to praise Treliving. But then the debate rekindled.

Yeah if you look back the poster that bumped it had good intentions but it's one of the more divisive topics on this board and as you say the debate got rekindled.
I'm also of the opinion that there's a time and place for those debates and this is not the time. Fans should be on the same page supporting the team and embracing these good times while we can as you never know what next season holds as professional sports is a year to year thing with all the variables of free agency, injuries, parity, luck, etc.

It's debatable if he has ever been a 10M player though

Matthew Tkachuk pre and post trade:
10 games - 5G, 2A, 7P, 0.70PPG, +3
70 games - 36G, 59A, 95P, 1.36PPG, +53
small sample size pre-trade, but he was fired out of a canon, post-trade

Had an idea!

I wonder if teams know something about Eichel in the dressing room.
Because for a player with such a elite talent, he sure never played like a gave a #### down the stretch.
