38 on the front at Lynx is legit. 7, 8 and 9 is a pretty tough finish.

Thanks! I pulled off par-birdie-par somehow!
Tee shot on 7 was a few feet from the left hazard. Tee shot on 9 was 4 inches from the right hazard.

You're right... it's a big reason I never played it through all the years. I always had a bit of a beef with the fact their twilight rates were not overly impressive and they never seem to cut rates to make it affordable.
I'll have to hand it to them though course was great service was excellent. I'll be back.

The north course was in good shape, but the south had one closed hole (probably should have been 2) from water accumulation. Probably fine by now as this was 2 weeks ago.
Every course we played was in great shape by late May standards- northern pines was just the best of them condition wise- its a funny course though-The front 9 is very wide open and a little linksy, but the back 9 dips down into a valley and is just awesome.
The exchange rate is just a bugger right now though. Whitefish lakes at 50 is still a steal, but not as good as you think when the credit card statement is closer to 75. I believe northern pines gives a bit of a discount to Cdns though.

Played my first rounds of golf this past weekend at Radium Resort and Grey Wolf. Shot a 104 at radium then 101 and 99 on Grey Wolf. First time breaking 100 for me. We (group of 11) played Radium in something like 3:50 and both rounds at Grey Wolf were under 4.5 hours and we were tight on the group ahead of us.
We had a condo on the 5th hole giving beers to shotgun to anyone who hit near us.

We did our 2015 golf trip there. We rented a house across the street from the platzl and this was my favorite trip since we started doing this in 1997.
It was late June and we hit a stretch of record heat, so we pushed our tee times back to twillight hours, which ended up being extremely cheap. We easily finished 18 hours and the courses were dead quiet, most rounds were sub 4 hours.
I was surprised how quiet it was at night, I was expecting a much busier town, maybe it picks up later in the summer.
We played Wildstone, St Eugene, Bootleg, Trickle Creek and Shadow Mountain. Shadow Mountain was my favorite out of that list.

Played Northern Pines in Montana today. They are offering a discount to ease the exchange rate.
Definitely the best conditions I've played all season. Greens, fairways and bunkers are perfect.
I will have a hard time playing Whitefish again after playing here.

Eagle bend is also an awesome course in the area if you haven't been, but $88 US right now and increases to around 110 in peak season. Same owners as Northern Pines though, so they might offer the same 25% discount to Canadians. And I believe you can then play their lake nine for around $10 after you complete the 18. The lake nine isn't quite at the level as the regular 18, but has some awesome views and spots around the marina. You can easily make it a full day there between the practice center, playing a round, having a bite, then playing the lake nine.

It must be an ego thing that prevents some men from teeing off from the whites. We had this foursome ahead of this morning that had troouble getting their tee shots 50 yards past the ladies tee box. Of course they were slow and when we suggested they should play from the whites we got dirty looks.

Looks like they moved the tees at 12 back up at Nanton. Any reason why?

The tees have been moved forward during the week to prevent sewage plant workers from getting hit. On weekends they are moved back to normal as workers as off.
Now that the town has installed some netting to protect the west side of the plant I suspect they will no longer be moving the tees forward.

Played Dancing Bull Friday and enjoyed it. The back 9 is better but I was impressed overall with the layout and the condition for a course that is just barely open. The tee boxes were bad as they weren't cut down but everything else was fine.
It's basically as far as Speargrass, but this one is actually worth the drive as this is one isn't just a farmer's field. It is flat and easily walkable if you're into that.
The clubhouse is an Atco trailer and there is machinery everywhere in the parking lot still so the first impression will not be great for you I"m sure. However, the staff were super friendly and they don't crack open the beers when you buy them.
Will play again. (speargrass, no chance).

To each their own. Speargrass is one of my favorite tracks in Calgary.
