Is Breen ready for a callup yet? I've been thinking since training camp that he's exactly what our defence is missing. And if one of the defensemen get moved at the deadline, he has to come up and show us what he's made of, right? Surely??? Thanks in advance PMM

He's hurt right now, but yes, absolutely he's ready. He took a huge step forward this year and deserves a #6-7 spot.

Breen was pretty good in Flames camp. Physically he's a BEAST, big and mean and strong. His wheels are decent for a bigger guy and his mobility is better than, say, Cory Sarich.
EDIT: Rockford ties game with ten seconds left, but can anyone explain this:
3. RFD Olesz, (2) (Smith), 19:50 (EN/PP)? EN goal to tie the game?
Looks like a misprint. Icehogs Twitter says Taylor was in net:

IceHogs goal! Did we say welcome back Ollie!?! Rostaslav Olesz snipes it over Taylor to tie the game with 10 secs left!

Better result tonight for the Heat. Good to see Sven and Roman score tonight hopefully have both of them the confidence to start some streaks. The Heat need a couple players to get hot and help the team into the playoffs.
If his mobility is better than Sarich', then he better get called up this season once he's healthy.
Flames season is write off playoff wise, mine as well get some looks at the younger guys.
I look forward to this as well, but only if the Heat don't make the playoffs. Playing meaningful hockey in the AHL would probably be better for them than to be part of a team that perhaps will be a bit 'shell-shocked' at being torn down.

A part of me thinks that a team that does get torn down would benefit from an influx of three or four young guys who are in awe of being up in the show and getting the chance to prove themselves.

That said guys like Baertschi and Horak would finally get some solid ice time if the Flames dealt 3 of their older forwards.
Getting their NHL confidence up wouldn't be a bad thing either.
PMM, who's injured right now? Trying to get a sense for how ATOs and PTOs could help out.
By the way, you probably gotta wait until after the Frozen Four tournament for Ramage at this rate.
Injured: Breen, Irving, Bouma for sure. Carson and Bancks left injured last night. That leaves us with Matczak, MacKenzie (who is playing like a man among boys right now), Lamb, McKelvie, Martin, and Callahan on the back end. Kulak or Seigo could find themselves in a game sooner rather than later. But that's a ridiculously inexperienced blueline.
So essentially, we're going to need AT LEAST another dman and forward on a PTO/ATO.

Yeah, that pretty much sums it up. I love this team and the players that play for them, but I'm 99.9% sure that this team isn't going to be in the playoffs.

PMM, how many minutes (approx) is Baertschi getting out there?
Slightly less than Reinhart. Around the 15:00-16:00 range. And that's only because Baertschi isn't as versatile a forward as Reinhart is or else he'd be getting the same, if not more, minutes than Max.
