If it's the same as Calgary, I believe hats are not allowed to be worn inside Catholic schools. Judging by the uniforms I'm guesing Johnny's school had the same rule.

Sour grapes is right.
There's a time and place for everything. Just because you can doesn't mean you should. Love Johnny, but Peter Hanlon should have talked some sense into him before he strolled into his catholic school for his jersey retirement wearing a backwards ball cap.

Here's another good example of why 'just because you can, you shouldn't and understanding the situation you're in:

Before manufactured outrage and pissing contests take over the thread...

How about that beauty tap pass Johnny made last night in OT?

The way he sees the game is second to none. How many players would have the sense to receive and give that puck back at that speed seeing that play develop as it did...

Really hope he picks it up and gets past the 60 point mark this season.

....So not the same thing.

Also, can't see Johnny writing 'I hope you would've been a Flames fan' in the guestbook of the Anne Frank museum.

Talked some sense into him? He wore a damn hat in a school lol. Big frigging deal. Mind blowing that someone would notice something like this let alone care. Guy took time out of a busy personal life to come to the school. Talk and meet students. Take pics. Sign autographs. Etc. We're worried about a hat? People just need to have an opinion about absolutely everything.

Black jacket and jeans IIRC.

On closer inspection they appear to be some sort of trouser. Jeans must have been against dress code or shown disrespect to God.

... We're down to bickering about a hat? Really? My word. OK time for some self imposed time away from here.

Who would you rather see Johnny line up alongside, Bennett or Monahan?

In the few times they played together, he and Bennett were dynamite.

They were able to work off each other with give-and-gos. Also, Bennett is great along the boards, which helps Johnny's game.

Monahan is better utilized for other roles.

I get goosebumps thinking about options like this going forward. I think Hartley will give Bennett the hudler treatment next year like he has with the other rookies. So I could see Monohan stay with gaudreau and Bennett with hudler.

I loved that video with Johnny, he picks up the baby, takes the picture.. "here ya go"

Thanks for sharing that, probably wouldn't have seen it for quite some time.

Good for Johnny. Handling it well it seems.

(also, he shouldn't be wearing a hat for an event like that. It's a sign of respect)

I think Bennett's speed is a better match for Johnny. I could see a great give-and-go game between them.

The toque at the all-star game and now the hat at the high school???

Maybe he has really uncontrolable hair?

Also I really like the emotion Hartley shows on these OT winners - so much better than the stoic response of some coaches.

Man, I mentioned the backwards hat way back, but not because I was outraged or anything - I just thought it sorta higlighted how youthful he looks. Never thought it was a big deal.

Maybe he doesn't like the new haircut.
