What's the stance on Nyquist here? He's an appealing player to me. Howard too...but Smith playing okay will kill any chance of that.

I'm ok with the goaltending situation.

That board really really likes Dube. Many compare him to Brayden Point so that's probably what Sens fans are latching on to.

Pat seems to be a gargantuan fan of Mark Stone and what he can bring here now and into the future while Pinder seems to be on the other side of things, too expensive and very risky.
I’m sort of in between, I’d love Mark Stone on this team. But if he costs too much, I’d look at cheaper options. I wouldn’t personally sell the farm to add a rental and I like the chemistry we’ve seen from most of the lines.
A small add at this point seems to make more sense as Stone’s acquisition cost looks to be astronomical.

Stone with 23 and 13 sure is appealing though.

Dube is definitely going to be a player and a good one.
PPG pro rookie and has shown flashes of brilliance with the NHL club. Just snake bitten during his stint.

I had never even considered this idea. Could you imagine!? What if Tre had this move worked out the whole time? That would be the most wizardy thing he’s pulled off yet.

But Fox will not be a free agent this summer will he? He’s a junior IIRC.

Confused as to why everyone is so worried about the prospect pool being shallow if we trade for Stone... If you can get a guy like him signed for 5 years you have a window of 5+ years of winning and your not gonna sit on your a$$ for 5 years and not restock the shelves, sure things might be dim for the first 2 with the draft but who cares!!! I’d rather 5 years with a great chance to challenge for the cup each one of them than 10 years of being middle of the pack. Time for this team to be a powerhouse and Stone makes your team that with what we already have locked up

I think the fact of the matter is that anyone of the guys supposedly on the market - Stone, Hayes, Zucarello, Nyquist, Kreider seems like good fits and definitely make us deeper. It’s just a matter of how they mesh with the group. They also have varying prices and how much you want to gamble the future prospects vs the opportunity in the short and medium term. I wouldn’t have any problem with any of the above listed, any one of them could be the thing that helps get over the hump. The amount you’re spending (risk) to get them is just a matter of degree and the potential upside (reward) is commensurate.

When your top 8 is
Gaudreau-Monahan-Lindholm
Tkachuk-Backlund-Stone
Bennett-Jankowski-
and still all young
and
you have Valimaki, Andersson, Kylington, Hanifin as super young high potential d-men why do prospects matter at all?

You do know it's highly unlikely that Stone would agree to a contract before the trade?

I have a funny feeling that Mark Stone will be a Flame. I don't think it's going to be cheap, but you have to give to get, and having Stone on this team makes us a deadly offensive, juggernaut of a team.

Im guessing Treliving would talk to Stone's brother first and get a better idea if Matt would sign.

Depends on what the teams selling. This team is selling a young locked up core that's coming together. And winning. I would sign with a team like that anyday. Opportunity to win for years to come.

...and then the icing on the cake is your brother is already a member of that team.
