If Prigozhin wasn't such a terrifying figure himself I'd be thrilled with these developments.
As it stands I just hope Ukraine can press the apparent advantage here and nobody decides it's time to try a nuclear bomb out.

Never change Russia, never change. Good old.fashioned military coup. This will be insane.

Pretty crazy that this sort of thing is occurring in a superpower nation in the year 2023. Still don't believe most of these tweets until it's verified though.

That's the thing.
The best case scenario is that an internal conflict drags Russia out of Ukraine, or at least diminishes their abilities there for a long time.
Not thrilled with the idea of Prigozhin, a war lord basically, possibly usurping Putin. Cross that bridge if or when that happens though. For now, infighting in Russia should be good for Ukraine's cause at least.

If they have the capacity, this is a great opportunity for Ukraine to push.

The advantage of any change of regime is they will be able to end the war, pull out of Ukraine without losing face, this is Putins war not Prigozhin's and frankly the utter chaos a coup brings would make a quick end to the war at almost any cost an absolute necessity for whoever runs Moscow, outside the obvious nuclear risk there is no downside to any of this for Ukraine, it weakens Russia no matter who ends up winning or how it plays out, if Putin falls I can see Russia pulling out of the Donbas and just trying to hold Crimea, even that might be negotiable, a full withdrawal for and end to sanctions and western help

Putin would nuke his own country before giving up to these “war lords” I wouldn’t get too excited over this.

At this point, with Wagner capturing SMD HQ in a major city it may be time to accept these are legitimate claims. Rostov is bigger than any city that Russia captured at any point in the war from Ukraine
There's also signs of Rosgvardia joining with Wagner.

This isn't some 6D chess game here, a coup / revolt is in progress.

Oh no this is worth getting excited about, this is pretty much proof the Russian Army is falling apart, this doesn't happen if everything is fine and all is going well, this doesnt happen if the Russian Army has useable reserves anywhere, this only happens if Wagner thinks they are the only cohesive unit in the country right now and they have a chance of pulling this off

Yeah, it's pretty insane. I just assumed Prigozhin was just full of bluster. But Wagner taking over a major city without any real resistance from the Russian military is pretty crazy and not something I ever expected to happen.

I wonder if Russia would use a nuke on its own soil. Extremely scorched earth.

What is left of them? Low morale old men pulled off the street or jails? Might be best to pull them all back from their "special military operation" so they can even guard your own kitchen.

Show other military units that the regime is weak. Prigozhin must believe many Russian officers and soldiers are fed up with the war and will join in the putsch - or at least stand back and watch. When a regime like Putin’s can no longer exercise a monopoly on force in its own territory, the jig is up and credibility crumbles.

They still have a large National Guard/Rosgvardiya force within Russia, but I imagine morale is pretty low which is why there has been little to no resistance.

Interestingly, there are also some (unconfirmed) reports of shooting in Voronezh Oblast, which is a little under halfway between Rostov and Moscow.
