Lots of players getting the flu this week. Just coincidence they are all pending UFAs too?
Strange.....

It wouldn't surprise me if the flu thing is real. I had it a couple of weeks ago and now almost everyone I know is getting it across the country and the U.S. And it's a nasty one and very contagious. I had the flu shot, but this virus seems to be getting through it.

With the Flames and Jets rumored to be the top of the Stone sweeps you have one GM who has never been afraid to make a change and another GM that is never afraid to do nothing. Seems like more pressure on the Jets but Tre is far more of a riverboat gambler.

In what world are the Flames capable of fitting Taylor Hall and Matthew Tkachuk into their cap situation? Stone is one thing (even doubtful at that rate) but Hall will surely be among the leagues highest paid....I've seen a few doozies but this takes the cake for sure.
Even if you could make it work by moving 2-3 players out, this would create so many holes in the lineup that doing so would be a negative gain.

Lifetime Suspension

1st in 2019
Cond 1st in 2020 if he re-signs (which will be a very late pick as well)
Kylington
Gawdin
for
Stone
This price most certainly beats the deal OTT got for Duchene because Kylington is a far better prospect than either Abramov or Davidsson.

Good point. Chev wasn't in to trades at all first couple seasons there and Tre is probably one of the most active GMs.

The Flames will not pay high and make a splash without a guaranteed re-signed player. People can’t seem to get that through their heads lol. They would take Simmonds or Zuccarelo for a middle pick or minor prospect. That’s it. IMHO

I hate the idea of trading all of our picks...this is setting up for a very poor prospect pool for the next 3-5 years.

Apologies if some variation of this has already been asked but what are people's appetite for a deal for Stone (structured like Duchene trade) for 2 of Kylington, Valimaki and Dube?
I'd say hell no to that and would want to figuratively slap Treliving and the hockey ops guys faces ala Slapshot if they are even considering that.
Move on to the next tier

Absolutely not. The price will not be that high.

Kind of the point once the rebuild is complete, no?
We are 2nd in the league.
Stone is 26. Adding him keeps our window wide open for the next 3-5 years. At which point, you reload the cupboard and start all over.

My appetite for trading any of those three is 0.

I was told it involved the Flames and a rival. Two big names which thankfully we didn't do imo.
I can't give much more than that. Take if for what it's worth. I won't post stuff like that anymore then if people are getting so upset.

Track record? I have less than 400 posts and have only started being active recently? Good talk.

I think Stone is a 90 point elite two way player on our team under Peters. He will be even better than he is in Ottawa.
If the price to make that happen with an extension is Kylington, Dube, and two firsts that might make some people’s stomach churn but I could live with it.
If the window is open, which it is, you can’t be afraid to go all in.

Was the rival Vancouver? I think I heard one that centered on Vancouver.
