Pick the franchise QB.
There were some at Arrowhead Pride poking fun at Matt Cassel standing with his legs crossed and biting his nails. God forbid the Raiders see him doing that.

Pacman Jones has changed his ways....no really!!
Quote:
"Of course, you change as you grow," Jones said. "Like I said, it ain't overnight. I'm 26 years old now, so I can't do the same things I was doing at 21, or I'm going to be dead or in jail. I know what my passion is, and my passion is football. I know what I've got to do to keep playing football, and that's what I'm working on doing."

Really good article here on the intricacies of players, some pro-bowlers, and their not having signed tender sheets as of yet with a April 15 deadline come and gone. Teams gain complete control after a June 15 date with the power to give that player a paycut on top of everything.
Quote:
As of Monday evening, 45 restricted free agents have yet to sign their one-year qualifying offers for the 2010 season. Those qualifying offers, which range from $1.01 million to $3.268 million depending on a player's tenure in the league and the level of the tender offer, grant the club a right of first refusal. But with the April 15 deadline for signing offer sheets with another team having passed, the players are precluded from negotiating with outside franchises, and thus, their rights belong exclusively to their current teams.

Brett Favre has had ankle surgery, no word on his 2010 status.
http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=090...s&confirm=true
Quote:
"I don't believe major surgery on the ankle would be required for me to return in 2010," Favre wrote on his Web site at the time. "I've consulted with Dr. Andrews on the phone, and a relatively minor procedure could be done to improve the dexterity of the ankle, and to relieve the pain. I've put up with pain worse than this in my career, and I didn't want anyone to assume that the possibility of surgery was the sole factor that would determine whether I return or not."
|
Quote:
"Let's make a (fun) bet," the quarterback said in response to a question from outfielder Justin Diliberto. "If you guys go back to the College World Series this year -- I will come back and play. How about that? You go back, and I go back."

Should say which of these guys is scheduled to make 15.5 million next year. You'd think that guy wouldn't look so nervous. For that money even I wouldn't be biting my nails and crossing my knees, even if I had to go behind the Chiefs line. I might even be close to Cassel in terms of arm strength.

100%. The more I watch of him over the last 5 off-seasons or so, it's more and more evident that there's rules for Brett Favre, and other rules for the rest of NFL players. It really grinds my gears.

Why? His teams have allowed him to dictate the process because they feel they require his services. If you were a Packers/Jets/Vikings fan I'd get it, but it doesn't impact other teams so why would it bother you?

I treat Bret Favre like Rocky V. I just try to not discuss him and pretend he doesn't exist.

I figured they were unfairly blamed for much of the Chiefs short coming on offense last season.

I think it's a mix of two things when it comes to Favre.
1. We all know it, he loves the attention. He pretends he doesn't, but I can't see how he doesn't love the spotlight.
2. The media seems to take the SMALLEST Favre news, blow it up to front page material and cover it 24/7.
As a Vikings fan, I don't care that he hasn't comitted to coming back, becuase I just assume he is. The team has told him to take all the time he needs, which he's doing, so why should he have to answer to anyone else but the team that's scheduled to pay his salary next year.

Bad precedent to set, IMO. How do you tell Washington, Philly, New England, etc. that they can't have one now?

I don't think it would be much fun to go to a Superbowl when it was cold/snowy/rainy out. I have no idea about the location of the Meadowlands but if I was going to a Superbowl I would like it to be somewhere I could walk to other events/bars/pubs and not have to worry about taking a car or cab.

Why did Detroit get the Super Bowl? If that can have one, which is a terrible place to host one, then New York can most defiantly host one. Although Detroit was in a dome stadium. But New York differs as well in being a world class city. I don't mind the decision even if it's not in a viable climate.
LA just gotta get a damn team already so then the SB can return to where it begun.

Hopefully they don't tell them they can't have one. Football is an outdoor sport, you have to play through all kinds of conditions to get to the super bowl, why should it be any different at the end? The idea that the super bowl needs to be in ideal conditions just seems like further wussification of the game.

There's nothing in the immediate vicinity of the Meadowlands, but that certainly wouldn't be the case for the super bowl. The parking lots will be packed with all kinds of entertainment options.
