I move to have Bruce removed from the draft and his picks placed back in the pool.. Anyone with me?
yep. He basically said a month or so ago he had no idea who else to pick (still not sure how you run out of musicians, must be a very limited taste or something)

Worst case scenario I'll take over his team. Half of his choices were my suggestions anyways.
I have the same Far East music taste as him I think :P

In the Wildcard Band category, Team Phlegmp3 selects the folk twosome Indigo Girls.
Quote:
While they came into prominence as part of the late-'80s folky singer/songwriter revival, the Indigo Girls had staying power where other artists from the same era quickly faded. Their two-women-with-guitars formula may not seem very revolutionary on paper, but the combination of two distinct personalities and songwriting styles provided tension and an interesting balance. Emily Saliers, hailing from the more traditional Joni Mitchell school, had a gentler sound, was more complex musically, and leaned toward the abstract and spiritual. Meanwhile, Amy Ray drew heavily from the singer/songwriter aspects of punk rock, citing influences such as the Jam, the Pretenders, and Hόsker Dό for her more abrasive and direct approach. In a decade-plus of recording, they managed to garner respectable mainstream success and keep their rabid core following.

They began as Skull, a grindcore group. [2] The band initially consisted of singer Patrik Arve and the brothers Joakim Εhlund and Klas Εhlund, before drummer Olsson joined them. They released their debut album You Are Teddybears in 1993 and their second album, titled I Can't Believe It's Teddybears STHLM followed in 1996. Their third album Rock 'N' Roll Highschool came out in 2000 and consisted of electronic elements, which were a departure from the band's previous hardcore sound. A fourth album, 'Fresh', was released in 2005 and included the singles Cobrastyle and Hey Boy.
As for the name, "If you're familiar with the Swedish or Norwegian black metal scene, you know back then every band was called things like 'Corpse Grinder From Hell,' Εhlund says. "So we called ourselves the Teddybears as an 'anti' thing."[3] Band members wear large bear masks in album art and promotional photographs.
Joakim Εhlund is also the lead guitarist and songwriter for the band Caesars, who are best known for "Jerk It Out." Klas Εhlund has also produced most of the Caesars' albums. Klas Εhlund also produced Robyn's 2005 self titled album. The two brothers also direct television ads and music videos through production outfit Spader Knekt.
Their song "Cobrastyle" was used in the FIFA 06 and Forza Motorsport 2 video games. A part from their song "Move Over" ("Rock 'n' Roll Highschool") was used in the 2005 video game "Driv3r". In a recent commercial, Intel had used a sample of the band's song "Different Sound", to promote their new Intel Core 2 Duo Processor. The band's song "Cobrastyle" was featured prominently on the pilot episode of NBC's 2007 comedy show Chuck.
Their song "Different Sound" was featured on the soundtrack album for the Hugh Grant film Music and Lyrics. They also made a remix of Stayin' Alive by The Bee Gees which was featured on the 2007 album, Bee Gees Greatest (Special Edition)[1].
The group has a global music publishing deal with BMG Music Publishing. They have signed to Atlantic Records and Big Beat/Atlantic Records released their first North American album, Soft Machine on September 12, 2006, under the shortened moniker Teddybears. [4] The album includes appearances from Iggy Pop, Annie, Ebbot Lundberg of The Soundtrack of Our Lives, Mad Cobra, Elephant Man, and Neneh Cherry.[2]
In an interview with Scandinavian news agency TT Spectra, Joakim Akerlund states that he hopes to record a new Teddybears album in the fall of 2008. Two tracks are already recorded with rapper Slick Rick and Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne. [5]

Dr. Funke's 100 Percent Natural Good-Time Family Band Solution is pleased to select Miracle Drug by the great U2 in the category of Song
Miracle Drug" is the second track from U2's 2004 album, How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb. It was written about Irish writer Christopher Nolan, with whom the band attended Mount Temple Comprehensive School. Bono said of Nolan:
“ We all went to the same school and just as we were leaving, a fellow called Christopher Nolan arrived. He had been deprived of oxygen for two hours when he was born, so he was paraplegic. But his mother believed he could understand what was going on and used to teach him at home. Eventually, they discovered a drug that allowed him to move one muscle in his neck. So they attached this unicorn device to his forehead and he learned to type. And out of him came all these poems that he'd been storing up in his head. Then he put out a collection called Dam-Burst of Dreams, which won a load of awards and he went off to university and became a genius. All because of a mother's love and a medical breakthrough. ”
The song shares a similar chord progression with their 1987 song "With or Without You". [1] and features a rare background vocal appearance by U2's drummer Larry Mullen, Jr. Indeed, it is one of only two U2 songs to feature three members of U2 on vocals - Bono, The Edge, and Mullen. The only other is "Numb" from the Zooropa album.
"Miracle Drug" was played live at every show of the first and second legs of the Vertigo Tour, with Bono using the song (and the story of Nolan) as a means of expressing his appreciation for doctors, nurses, and others in the medical field. Towards the end of the third leg of the tour, it was dropped and did not reappear on any of the fourth or fifth leg shows. Its last performance on the Vertigo Tour was November 28, 2005 in Montreal.

Pick will be up momentarily.

Damon Johnson is awesome. I was a big fan of Brother Cane and as a big fan of Queensryche I stumbled upon a side project of QR drummer Scott Rockenfield called Slave To The System. This little group released one album in 2002 and Johnson played guitar, wrote and sang on it. It is excellent! I look forward to getting into his very early stuff and maybe even taking a taste of his country project, Whiskey Falls.
Damon Rogers Johnson (born on July 13, 1964) is an American born guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter, best known for his work with the hard rock band Brother Cane, and as a guitarist for Alice Cooper. He is currently the lead guitarist and backup vocalist for the country music group Whiskey Falls.
It was Brother Cane that would bring Damon genuine national notoriety. The band released three albums on Virgin Records (the self titled debut which sold 250,000 copies, "Seeds," and "Wishpool") that would yield three #1 singles on rock radio ("Got No Shame," "And Fools Shine On," and "I Lie in the Bed I Make"). "And Fools Shine On" was also featured in the horror film "Halloween 6." Brother Cane toured extensively as a headliner and also as a supporting act on tours by Van Halen, Aerosmith, Robert Plant, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Candlebox. After what Virgin Records considered an unsatisfactory yield for record sales, the band was released from their contract, and amicably disbanded in 1998.

Whiskey Falls-Whiskey Falls 2007, CD (Midas Records)
Got No Shame, Brother Cane
And Fools Shine On, Brother Cane
Leaves, Slave to the System
Stigmata, Slave to the System
There are several other great tracks I'd love to post here but alas...no youtube videos for them.
Specifically, check out the entire Slave to the System record, but I'm thinking of Abyss and Walk The Line. Brother Cane's Make Your Play is probably my favorite from his early stuff.
Enjoy!

In the wild card Band category, I will choose Boston
Quote:
Boston is an American rock band from Boston, Massachusetts that achieved its most notable successes during the 1970s and 1980s. Centered on guitarist, keyboardist, songwriter, and producer Tom Scholz, the band is a staple of classic rock radio playlists. Boston's best-known works include the singles "More than a Feeling", "Peace of Mind", "Long Time", "Don't Look Back" and "Amanda". They have sold over 50 million albums worldwide, including 31 million albums in the United States.
