A study in supergroup chemistry: The first taste of the Sleater-Kinney/ Helium/Minders alums’ debut LP (due in September) harnesses their old bands' strengths into a fresh blast of giddy garage-psych ambition.
Wilco are set to self-release their eighth studio album The Whole Love on September 27th. The disc will be the first full-length record released by their brand new label dBpm. When Rolling Stone checked in with frontman Jeff Tweedy earlier this year, he said that the band recorded 20 songs for what has turned out to be a concise 12-cut album. This represents the best of a period in which Tweedy penned up to 60 new tunes. "It's a pretty great time for me writing-wise," he said.
The Whole Love includes the band's new garage rock-inspired single "I Might," as well as a seven-minute track, "Art of Almost," which starts with shadowy electronics, gently turns into a haunted vocal section, then sprints into a Krautrock-style blowout. Other numbers, such as spectral ballad "Black Moon" and the jaunty title track, call back to the group's roots in country rock.

For those who didn't hear it in the thread I posted a while back, we just finished recording that Bodysnatchers cover I was bringing up a couple months back. It's not available for download via our website yet but it will be soon EDIT It is now available for free download via our website!!!
We tried using a ton of tracks on this song just to see what we would get and there is about 170 tracks in there all balanced. Song was a blast to record and we took a bunch of time on the mixing/mastering aspect of the song until we finally were happy with the mix. This is the 4th cover tune we have completed using our "frankenstein" studio and it seems to just be getting easier and easier as time goes on. We will have new masters/mixes of the other covers up soon but for now I will post the links to the free downloads if you haven't had a chance to hear them yet. Heavy Jack song Catelogue: Multiply Album
Much of the same. Some decent hard guitars and drums, some okay beats, and a lot of Durst's inferiority complex. I counted four different songs where he states "I don't give a fkuc what you say about me" or some variation. It actually got comical when I was waiting for him to say it and then he throws out a "I dont think i need to remind you that I don't give a fkuc".
Listen to the song ######bag, one of the worst things I have ever heard. Get to the chorus for some good laughs. NSFW.....language and sheer stupidity
A remix/mashup collection of songs by Fela Kuti, Bob Marley and Bob Dylan, with rapping by K'NAAN. Even if you're not into hip-hop, I highly recommend listening to the Bob Dylan based tunes. It's simply beautiful music IMO.

Herewith, the full track listing from the project -- and by way of a referendum of sorts, I included an approximate number of cover versions performed by Nirvana fans on Youtube. Perhaps a fan-generated, fan-curated covers album might be an interesting project.

"In Bloom" Butch Walker (2,120 covers)
"Come as You Are" Midnight Juggernauts (3,510)
"Breed" Titus Andronicus (2,380)
"Lithium" The Vaselines (2,520 incl. The Pink Panther and Polyphonic Spree)
"Polly" Amanda Palmer (2,280)
"Territorial Pissings" Surfer Blood (4,170)
"Drain You" Foxy Shazam (4,839)
"Lounge Act" Jessica Lea Mayfield (864)
"Stay Away" Charles Bradley and the Menahan Street Band (1,190)
"On a Plain" Telekinesis (2,600)
"Something in the Way" JEFF the Brotherhood (3,400)
As Exclaim! points out, indie crossover queen Feist has posted a mysterious and uncharacteristically ominous new video on her website, a possible teaser for the follow-up to 2007's breakout album The Reminder. On her Twitter, Feist called the video "a glimpse to come" and promised "more soon." On her site, there's a row of icons across the bottom of the screen, with one stamped "7/25/11". [pitchfork]
Had to go 8 pages back to dig up this thread......its been a bad summer for music
Mat Kearney "Young Love" came out today and it is actually pretty good! Apparently he took out a cabbie license for a year in Nashville to inspire him for this album. It always seems the cab drivers/hairdressers/shoe shiners hear it straight from the front lines and can tell the best stories. This one wasn't inspired from his cab driving but is unique in its own way. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dbrF2X6_xbo
Most of his music sounds the same but the lyrics are different and interesting so it seems to work Likey going to despise this album in a few months but tonight it sounds great
