Kind of amusing watching the natural gas discussion.

AI is going to create insane power needs. There is no baseload capacity available unless its built with natural gas plants. Everything else takes too long and costs too much.

Decide Canada.

Trump announces tariffs on steel and aluminum imports from Canada and Mexico. So he starts to impose things 6 days after announcing his 30 day pause.

Are those only on Canada and Mexico? I thought they were global.

Not sure it matters much to me, he made a deal to pause tarrifs on Mexico and Canada. Steel and aluminum are part of the USMCA, which he signed. His national emergency on the border was his made up reason to break that deal last week. Now he’s breaking both the USMCA and the deal from last week.

So the 30 day pause was just a load of horses***, just like everything else that comes out of his stupid, reprehensible pie hole. I’m shocked.

How much steel are you using these days?
A wise economist said that steel won't impact us very much. Aluminium might sting though.

Like anyone should believe one syllable that comes from his ugly, stupid mouth. Now Congress is going to put priority on passing an election law that requires proof of person. 60 million Americans DO NOT have passports. Women who take their husband's name at marriage cannot use a birth certificate because it won't match the name they register to vote with.. Yes, children, you will never need to vote again.

Wow, so a lot of women won’t be able to vote?

Can Trump please just choke on a cheeseburger already? Vance is a greasy sack of s*** too, but I feel like he’d be slightly easier to deal with.

Vance is certainly for the oligarchs but if people are going to be robbed blind either way there is something to be said for stability.

Stability like Oligarch Elon Musk's outright smashing of the government.

That seems a bit far fetched. Wouldn't a driver's license or other state ID be sufficient as proof of person?

In Canada a birth certificate and marriage license are enough to show name change. Who knows WTF they are doing down south though. Probably only straight white men soon enough.

Apparently the US does still use steel a teeny little bit where putting tariffs on foreign steel has a major market impact.

Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. alone jumped 1 billion dollars in market cap on the announcement. Clearly investors didn't listen to our forum hermit teaching us how steel isn't of much use these days.

Someone said steel isn’t of much use?

I'm not sure I'd call adding a combined $3B in market cap a "major market impact". The S&P usually shifts by about $400B in any given day.

It's interesting to look back at the beginning of free trade with the U.S. and hear what was being said about it at the time by the party leaders.
